Any advice on installing a lock on fuel door?
I have a bullitt fuel door from americanMuscle. non-locking. i want to add a cabinet lock to it for extra protection against ppl getting to my fuel cap. already have a locking gas cap but they're easy to break into. i've lost my keys twice and broke into it with a flat head screwdriver.
AM says its Crafted from Durable Lightweight Aluminum.
should i use a regular drill bit thats make for metal to drill the hole for the lock? will it go through aluminum just as easy as metal?
plan for it to look like this:

using this lock, already ordered it:
should look like this once put together:
the fuel door i'm doing it on:

i was also thinking of trying it out on a extra stock fuel door for my z28.
i have gas locks on all of my cars.
wont be very easy to break into it with the cabinet lock on it. i double nut the allan screws on the fuel door itself so u can just unscrew it. the door has to be open.

On a serious note, I'd vote for the locking cap as well. It's more private and hidden. That way if someone comes up to your car and just sees a plain ol' gas door, they won't think any challenge will be associated, until they open a gas door to a locked cap. Or, you could always do both.
