Congrats on the car! Once you get the backing plate for the PC, it will get rid of those swirls a lot better than what you did by hand. Once you get it clean, take pics and enjoy it because with black paint if you even look at it wrong it will get dirty have swirls lol.

From what I've read, black is one of the most difficult paint surfaces to properly correct. Every detail will be reflected. Good start with the M105/M205 but as stated, wait until you have a 5" backing plate. GoFast suggested Lae Country Pads and all I can say is, that was some quality advice! I primed the pads with the XMT conditioner and got quality results. Waiting to order up some Blackfire Wet Diamond right now, I hear that stuff is killer and alot of pros use it as their LSP. Nice car btw!

Thanks guys.

I ordered the backing plate a couple days ago, it will probably be here monday so I will try it out then. GoFast has taught me quite a bit. Although the blackfire wet diamond was not cheap! I think I had to pay something like $35 for it.

Tis the world of detailing! GoFast's thread opened up new worlds for me, and also opened up my wallet. I think you'll be happy in the end though. I hear that stuff is amazing

Here are a couple shots of the hood- it had the most swirls. Sorry the pics aren't in the sun, the sun has yet to shine. Looks good to me though. All I've done so far is the hood, tomorrow or sometime this week I'll finish the car up. On 1 side of the hood I used the rotary, other side I used the PC. Looks to be the same results.

Here are some better pictures of the car:

Oh, you noticed the different looking headlights? I made them myself and they are getting close to being finished here they are at dusk and night:

(I know, halos are showing through the gap in the hood. This will be changed. They are not complete.)

Here's a group picture- brother's firebird (v6), and dad's firebird (LS2). Cousin also has a silver Camaro SS.

Not cheap?? Thats one of the lowest priced *quality* LSPs out there. It goes a long way too.

Although maybe I've just gotten used to the prices....I haven't bought any waxes from a local store for YEARS lol.

Correction pictures

These are all of the rear hatch and spoiler. It was the second worst area on the car (hood first, already did it though). Used m105, m205, and blackfire wet diamond with a PC. The paint looks wet, and only the deeper RIDS did not come out. I'm not getting any more correction pictures since the rest of the car isn't too bad. But I will get some pictures of the whole car when I finish (limited time due to school). I will add the second set of pictures to the post under this one.

Before:

Compounded:

Spoiler:

and corrected:

50/50 shots:

Finished pictures (comparison between each side):

I'd say it turned out pretty well.

Looks great, your car has more miles than mines does and the paint looks two times as good, you're treating this car right man. Wish I had the time to just take an entire day to really work on my cars paint, it could definitely use some correction.

The paint looks perfect, good work! How long did it take to do the whole car?

Thanks! In reality it is not perfect but I do believe it's the best it can get without wetsanding for a car that's almost 12 years old and 83k miles. This took about 10 hours because I wouldn't want to regret rushing it. Well worth the time

I did it between school and work throughout the week. I did all the steps to one panel before starting the next panel in case I ran out of time in the middle of it. Friday I had about half the car left and I proceeded to do the steps to the whole car rather than panel by panel.

Oh and I'm not sure what those lines are on the hood scoop in the 4th to last picture. It may just be dust but rest assured I didn't burn through the paint.

Quick Reply: Bought the car I've been looking for *pics* *detailing pics added (black car)*
