I have always been happy with VVME, so I do recommend that kit, yes. It is Chinese quality, which can obviously vary, but I've not had many issues at all. If you want something that's going to be a bit higher quality, but a bit more expensive, the Morimoto kits are what you want. It's really a "you get what you pay for" type affair with those two kits. Shipping is typically quick for both. I ordered the TA kit on Monday and it showed up from China yesterday. Not bad at all. TRS has had parts to me within 2-3 business days as they are in the US. TRS stands behind their products and are easy to get ahold of, but VVME does this as well.

Also, because of color shift, I always recommend going with 4300K temp. The output color shifts bluer over time. HID's never really "burn out" like halogen, they just become more and more blue until there is no good output left. This (no burn out deal) is more true for the OE HID systems, but still is applicable to HID kits.

Haha. You're pushing both products and making my decision that much tougher! I'm still in the mounting phases of the housings. When it comes time to decide on a kit, I'll just choose one and stick to it.

Sounds good haha. I'd say go with what you want to budget. You're getting a good product either way. TRS is better, but more expensive. So just go off that!

Looks nice! Interested in how you wired them.

Thanks!

I used the driver side factory low beam wiring, cut the connector off, then re-wired in a 9005 male connector. This then plugged into the relay harness that came with my kit (9005 harness). From there it ran to the ballasts. The positive from the relay harness went to the driver side positive port, the negative tapped into a nearby ground.

I would have though you'd use a female 9005 connector to replace the stock female 4703 connector.

Crap, now I can't remember lol. Now that I think about it it may be a female connector. It's always weird on the 9005 styles on which is male and which is female..

prongs = male

The 9005/9006 bulbs are males.
Standard 9005/9006 sockets are female.

There are aftermarket male 9005/9006 sockets that plug into the standard female 9005/9006 sockets. You'll find them on aftermarket 9005/9006 relay harnesses.

Thanks VIP.

Marine, thank you. Need to get the aesthetics all cleaned up but I will be happy with that shortly. I may take these off and adjust the cutoff shield. It's got a huge uptick, not really something I am a fan of.

In for more updates. It looks good and I understand what you mean about the 'uptick'. I'd prefer something less subtle, or not at all. I'm not sure why it's there to be honest.

The "uptick" is there so the beam is higher in front of the driver and to the right, but lower on the left so that you can get more light in front of you without blinding oncoming cars on the left lane. If you flatten it out, you'll effectively lose some distance lighting.

I've noticed that halogen projectors have a higher rise than HID projectors.

When you reference halogen and HID projectors, what would you consider halogen housings (Hella 57000 mentioned in the thread) with HID lamps/ballasts?

I assume a halogen projector would be a projector housing with a non-HID lamp/ballast in it?

Halogen projectors use Halogen Bulbs.
HID projectors use HID bulbs.

If a projector uses a "H" bulb it is a Halogen projector.
If a projector uses a "D" bulb it is a HID projector.

They are designed differently to differently handle Halogen vs HID. Some Halogen projectors handle HID OK, some don't. Either way, the best setup is HID projectors with HID bulbs.

One exception is the Mortimoto Mini-H1 projector which is an aftermarket HID projector designed to use a H1 HID Kit.

Some examples of Halogen Bulbs:
H9005, H9006, H1, H9, H11....

Some examples of HID Bulbs:
D1S, D2S, D3S, D4S

You may have seen some D2R HID bulbs. Those have a black bar painted on them and are intended for HID Reflector Housings. There were a few OEM HID Reflector housings, but they are relatively rare. Notice, you still can't put a "R" HID bulb into a Halogen Reflector Housing. The output will still be undesirable.

For clarification, HID bulbs that end in "R" are for HID Reflectors. HID bulbs that end in "S" are for HID Projectors.

Interesting. What are your guys' thoughts on halogen projectors with HID's? Is it a matter of just adjusting the cut off shield or something more involved?

Hmmmm. I thought I was buying an HID kit that had 9005 bulbs and placing them in halogen projector housings. I was mistaken. So in reality, I am just going to have halogen projectors with halogen lamps = not as good?

VIP is correct. Halogen projectors with HID kits are not as efficient as an HID projector with OEM HID ballasts/ignitors & capsules. However, the output from the HID kit in a halogen projector is still quite nice. The one issue you face is the higher uptick as stated. HID projectors typically have a smaller uptick, though still there. Refer to my MH1 retrofit here:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/multimedi...t-ta-next.html

Not sure on the pricing of the Hella 60mm HID projectors, if they even exist. I know they have 90mm HID and 50mm HID projectors, but they come with ballasts. The issue with this is you are spending $546 on just one HID projector, capsule, and ballast. That's a lot of coin...

Couple more cut-off shots. Cell phone shots - pardon the quality. First one was BEFORE I adjusted them. Second was after:
