Default brake cleaner

i want to paint my calipers but the brake cleaner i bought from V.i.P just isnt cutting the grease....is there anything stronger that i can use? I dremeled the front of the calipers spotless....but the sides would take a lot of work. and when you paint the calipers do you paint right over the brake pad as well? just curious....thanks

I've not painted my calipers, but I'd recommend removing them completely from the car before attempting to paint them. That way you're not getting overspray on the rotors (or worse the body of the car). Also, you won't be painting the edges of the brake pads with the calipers removed.

i painted mine while they were still on the car, but the rotors were off to get resurfaced
so I used a shoestring to tie the caliper to the upper A-arm (or coilspring), and taped everything else off with paper
this is basically only if your rotors are off but you dont wanna disconnect the brake line

oh yeah, I cleaned the calipers with SOS pads, worked like a charm
