HID's. 6k would be my recommendation as its the purest white light. That or get new bulbs but HID's would be cheaper to buy but take longer to install

You can usually find a nice set of HIDs on ebay. Dont cheap out too much though. The ballasts are usually the weak point on those.

Hid's aren't really gonna help in stock housings, you will just blind other people. Unfortunately to do it right, you must retrofit projectors. They would produce the most usable light.

I spent a ton of money on new projectors and hid and they are crap. The projectors don't fit and the light is worse then stock.

There is a guy on here who sells the retro plates for around 60 for a pair.. then just get a set of decent hids and ballasts.. you could do your low beams for around 220-250... never have to use your hibeam again..

Then you didn't buy the right stuff.

Proper HID projectors (not cheap ebay knock-off) will be better than HID in a Halogen Reflector housing.

for about 150 bucks you can get eurolamp housings (or lmc) that accept replacable bulbs (H7 i believe) and you can buy a set of HIDs to put in them. if you angle them lower down, you wont blind as many people as you think unless they are coming up/down a hill if you are going the opposite direction. it improves the stock lighting atleast 5x i have them in my car and in a friends and have only gotten flashed once in the year i have had them. are projectors better? yes.. but they are also very costly for a good pair.

Im happy with my LMC housings and HID`s , I do want to upgrade them to projectors in the future , however I needed new housings and they improved my cars light output for a quite affordable price .. they are aimed a bit low so they dont blind anyone either..

Take a look in the Lighting FAQ:
https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearance-detailing/710357-lighting-faq.html
There is plenty there, especially the section on Projectors.

There are also a few recent threads in this section.

Basically it breaks down as this:
* You shouldn't put HID in Halogen Reflector Housings because it will glare
* Some Halogen Projectors handle HID OK, some don't
* The best solution for the best output is HID Projectors

You'll find more info in the Lighting FAQ.

Does anyone know of a projector with more of a drop-in solution? I don't have the time or tools to invest in making adapter plates otherwise i would...

The LMC housings are affordable. Even with the 9006 bulbs that came with the housings it is a world of difference. I had silverstars in mine for awhile they were great.
