Blue coating = dimmer lights.
The blue coating blocks some light.
Also, blue lighting is less useful for our night vision.
Whiter light does not equal brighter light.
It's an optical illusion from our years of experience with brighter Incandescent and Halogen bulbs where higher wattage bulbs produced a brighter and whiter light.

I can't seem to find the lumen rating of the ZXE bulbs.

However, if their marketing speak on the ZXE is like their marketing speak on the SilverStar, then they aren't any brighter. They may actually be dimmer or the same output.

Look at the disclaimer on the back of the SilverStar packaging. It says something along the lines of the percent brighter comparison is comparing new SilverStar bulbs to used regular bulbs.

EDIT: I found this on Sylvania's website (the wording is different than the packaging I saw)

I don't really see a brightness difference. I just see a difference in color and a blurry pic. Honestly, the yellower pics shows better detail.

Can you re-take pics with a camera with manual controls so the auto settings don't compensate for the differences? Maybe use a tripod or put the camera on the roof of the car like I did. Another good comparison would be a side-by-side pic. ZXE on one side and SilverStar Ultra on the other side.

I'm not trying to be rude. I'm just giving some constructive criticism regarding bulbs that cost more than double regular halogens.

If I mix blue paint and clear coat and lightly mist the outer lens of my stock headlamps so they give off a slightly blue hue, will that be the cost-effective alternative to buying HIDs or the above mentioned Silverstars?

Just trying to think outside the box here. Logically it makes sense right? HIDs/ZXEs produce blue light, which is apparently brighter than stock. If I make stock produce blue light it'll consequently become brighter, right?

ZexGX, can you please confirm before I go buy some paint?

Or just have different incomes and priorities. I have ~$600 into my current forward lighting setup, and others on here have even more. Thank you for deleting the posts.

Lets be polite here. This started out as an interesting conversation, now its bickering and insults. Keep it clean or it gets locked.

BTW, I can read the "deleted" posts from you both.

Super-bat, I hope you are being sarcastic.

Any tint will decrease light output.

The only exception is HIR bulbs.

That's Fine I was just trying to help someone with my newly acquired knowledge of the ZXE that I put in my Hi and low beams rather than watch them waste their money on LED headlights. Then i get ragged on. Well it's out there. And i will not try to help him again. If you interested i can get you some photos with my New phone it has an 8 megapixel camera.

As far as pointing fingers, I saw blame on both sides. Lets just drop the bickering and move on.

Are there any manual controls on the phone? If so, use the same settings for all the photos. If you do take photos, just add them to your other thread about the bulbs. The photos will be more helpful there than in this thread.

For example, turn the flash off and use the same exposure for all pictures.

OK, back to LED headlight talk. Has the manufacturer responded with output shots? I'd like to see how these compare to existing Halogen and HID setups. I was not impressed with the beam patterns of previous LED replacement headlamps.

LED's are an interesting option for sure. I'd have to see a side by side comparison first. I have the BLS setup, and I hate the uptick on the Hella 60mm projectors, it's nothing like my projectors in both of my Saab's.

Okay I take back my statement!

And YES I currently have projector HID's on 2 of the 3 cars and they do give off better visiablity. Like The Alchemist I too have BLS lighting on my TA and it does make a huge difference over stock.

I guess what I meant was LED headlights seemed pricey over the proven projector hids.
