I've used DDM several times. The issues that people were talking about (if memory serves me right) was when they had switched their sites to a new server or new platform some of the shipments were delayed and others were shipped out of order. There were also some complaints that they actually only have a few types of bulbs and not actually the full range of xxxxK that they claim. I think that IS actuallly the case as on my last order i had ordered 4500's (or 4300's) and some 8000's and honestly they looked almost identical. I'm not sure if they've addressed that since but be prepared. On the other hand the slim kit that i got for my R1 was pretty good. The ballasts were of great quality and the bulb color was exactly what i was looking for on the bike (6k). This last order though they didnt offer the slim ballast and the newer style ballasts seem bulkier. Just personal preference i liked the slim balasts but they work.

I've had a DDM kit on my WRX for 2 years. Just recently a ballast took a **** on me. I shipped it back, and they warranty returned a ballast, free of charge, but it was nearly a 3 week process to get it (had to be shipped from China). I had a kit in my R6 for two years as well, no problems. Both were 35w kits. The bike had 6000k and my WRX has 5000k.
For the price, I don't think you can beat it, especially with a lifetime warranty. Sure, there may be better quality kits out there, but you pay a premium for them.

Whether the dual harness means:
* high beam & low beam in one harness
or
* low-beam-only with separate relays and fuses for left/right
Since you are only doing the low beam, you only need a low beam harness.
I made my own harness and it has separate relays and fuses for left/right.
