Lastly, great work again.
Im looking to pick up a PC this holiday season and get started on my car in the spring.
The 2 bucket method is having a wash bucket full of soapy water with a grit guard at the bottom and having a rinse bucket full of clean non soapy water with a grit guard in the bottom. When your wash pad gets dirty dunk it in the rinse bucket, rake the pad against the grit guard to get the dirt and debris out of the pad. Then take the pad to the wash bucket and get it nice and soapy while rubbing it against the grit guard again to ensure there is no more dirt that could scratch the paint when you go back to wash the car.

Dang that looks great! Gives me hope for my car, although it's not nearly that bad, just swirled to hell. I just started using the two bucket method and it blows my mind how much dirt ends up in the bottom of the rinse bucket.

Big thanks to Jeff (GoFast908Z) for continuing to provide the FBody community with his extensive knowledge in the field.

Meguires stuff likes to dust badly when it breaks down....I hate it.

Menzerna doesn't dust, it always stays oily. Much cleaner and easy to wipe.

Its actually drying out, not breaking down. Megs 105/205 are non-diminishing abrasives.

Results look really good! I did my wife's black WS.6 not too long ago, but I did it by hand. I just wanted to see how the products worked.

My christmas present to myself was the 7424xp, some Orange, White, and Gray LC CCS pads, with a couple flat red pads for applying wax.

I havent corrected my SOM yet, but I did use it to remove some ugly scratches on my car. Ill hopefully be doing a full correction soon.

Yeah they have a ton of respect for him on other actual detailing forums as well so that has to count for something.

It's pretty funny to see all of these paint correction threads popping up lately. I love it though, nice to see fellow f-body owners keeping their 10+ year old paint jobs glossy and protected! I'll have to post up my results in the spring. I work in my non-heated/insulated garage so I've been very hesitant to detail in the conditions.

Fantastic work on the black there OP. What products are you planning on maintaining the surface with?

Dual bucket washing and waxing with wolfgang deep gloss 3.0 sealant. Gonna be garaged for most of the winter so i'm not too worried about anything but not scratching it while i'm wrenching.

Where is this kit from gofast908? where can I find it? I've had good results with a regular orbital buffer and polish, but these results look amazing....I want to know exactly what you used...I'm only familiar with my 2 speed buffer and polishing "cloths" not familiar with pads. Of course I'll do my reading but since you just did this..I'd love to buy exactly what you bought...

Make yourself a drink and check out this thread...

GoFast908z (Jeff) has answered hundreds of our questions in his thread. I asked basically the same question you did in that thread. He suggested I started with a PC 7424XP kit. Hwoever, I've heard recently that the Griots Garage new random orbital polisher blows away the PC. That maybe the way to go for the price. I'm rocking a PC 7424XP with lake country 5.5" flat pads like a boss!

Seriously. Read and subscribe to that thread. Like 10 minutes ago.

After you have that down, go check out autogeek.net and get your credit card out!

That's a bummer to hear, the transformation you made was great! That thing had some SERIOUS oxidation!

Time to start thinking about color for the repaint, it's a big decision!
