I'm about to do mine cause everybody else is painting now and mine has been painted for like 5 years........ its just like any other type of aluminum polishing... start off w/ something like 400 to shape the rough endges then hit up w/ 1000grit then 1500 then 2000 all water and buff out w/ aluminum polish (mothers)

I used a dye grinder to get all the rough edges off and sort of smooth it out. Then I wetsanded it progressively going to a smoother paper starting out with 200 grit I think (don't remember). I then progressively went to a smoother sandpaper to make it really smooth. Once all of the marks from the rough paper are gone, then you can mive on to a smoother paper. The smoother and flatter the surface is, the better the reflection properties will be. Then I got a Dremel after it polishing it smooth with Mother's Aluminum polish. That's pretty much the idea of it. I get a lot of compliments on them.

damn sounds like a lot of work. How does it hold up? With only mag polish covering it, I imagine it gets filthy easily.
Looks great though.

The are easy to keep clean. I can wash mine through the wheel spokes very easliy. Then dry with the rest of the car.

They acutally stay cleaner than painted calipers. Mine used to be painted and it seemed as though the paint kind of absorbed the brake dust. I was wasting my time washing them, they stayed dirty. Now all I have to do is wipe them off and they're good as new. And all I have covering them is the polish I used to get them to bling.
