I have my calipers painted NBM as well and I polished the brackets. I used clear engine enamel on the brackets and haven't had to touch them for going on 3 years now. Still look shiny.

I honestly doubt the chrome would stand up to the heat. I bet it would brown and being to peel pretty quickly.
