Plastidip the hood?
It's an aftermarket fiberglass WS.6 hood that hasn't exactly shown the test of time due to a subpar paint job. The clearcoat is almost completely pealed away and the paint underneath isn't looking too good either. I'd rather not spend the money to paint the whole car yet but if I can get away with the hood it'd be a nice temp fix.
It's a pewter metallic car. Thinking of painting just the hood black. It's plastidip, so I could always remove it if I don't like it. Anyone have any pics of this? I'm trying to avoid looking ricer like, but I'd rather spend most of my money on go-fast or turn-fast bits.
i mean your going to have to get it reshot anyway in the future, when i got my harwood it was silver with purple flames, i plastidipped it, but wasnt to happy with it when i was done (also the more i got to think about it, bird poo, and other such things will probably eat through the plasti) so i just rattle canned it, i plan on having in sprayed in the following months
and i wouldnt say my car looks ricey

on a side note, ellsworth, your car is seriously clean man.
Its whatever you are comfortable with.
I'm sure it will hold up because the plastidip looks the same as the day I sprayed my rear view mirrors.

The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
Black hoods on 4th gens looks horrible. I would take the hood to a budget shop and let them hit it for $100 or something instead. If you do all the sanding yourself it might be even less.
I always hear this.... "if you prep the car your self, you save $ due to less labor and parts involved for the shop to do it".
How hard is sanding and prep? Can it be done in the garage and have the car towed to a shop with a cover on?

OP, go for it. The stuff dries fast though so make sure you get nice even coats across the whole hood. If anything just peel the crap back off, it'll at least give ya somethin to do if you're bored.
