looking to buy a good quality pin on hood for my race car.. 98-02 ws6.. i have an extended cowl vfn hood and it has got to be the worst fitment hood i have ever seen in my entire life, i contacted vfn and they basically told me to shove it in the nicest and most polite way possible.. (through email) i have pics of the fitment issues, i sent them plenty of pics, put the front end on, take it off side view birds eye view etc etc etc.. ill post pics if possible.. anyways i am just done with this hood and looking for a good quality hood! any suggestions?

UPDATE! After months of emails and problem solving between me my painter and vfn, I believe we have resolved the issue!!

Honest vfn makes the best stuff in my mind, if your that unhappy about vfn your really going to be pissed with other hood companys, also i would like you to post pics,i just re fitted my 3inch ss hood and its damn near perfect,no after market hood is going to fit like stock, also i found out my big driver side gap wasnt the hood it was the fender, honest man they all come from the same mold if the were crap we would hear more people having issues, im sure we can tell you some tricks you havent tried yet

I know right, you cant hate on a company that alot of us have had very good luck with, without any pics lol, like i said man there are tricks that i didnt know i could try that really made a difference, im sure if ya could prove to vfn its really a bad hood they would take care of it, but they also have in mind it is aftermarket and will never be 100% perfect, thats why they kinda told ya its your issue, they just make the hood its up to you to get it to fit

Maybe if you can post some pics up, some of the experts on here can give advice on how to get it to fit. I received my Smoothie Q from VFN a couple of weeks ago and couldn't be happier. I was impressed that the bottom of the hood was finished as well.

I'm not trying to doubt your claim that it's a horribly fitting hood... It just doesn't seem like many people have complaints about them, it would be interesting to see what a defective hood from them looks like.

I just took a look at Harwood's site and I didn't see a pin on for the '98+ T/A. They're the only other aftermarket company I've dealt with, I put one of their 3" cowl hoods on my '94 Z when I did the '98+ front end conversion and was really happy with it.

my VFN pin on fits great. You must remember they are fiberglass and are not perfect.

I can totally agree with the fiberglass part and I know there is a little work that needs to be done, this is beyond a little work, I can't post pics on here because they are from my phone and too big.. It would probably cost me $400 to have it fixed and fitted... Not including paint.. Anyone want pics I can text or email them.. The whole reason I bought a vfn is because I have heard good things about them..

It's at a body shop now as u see my avatar, all the body work has been professionally done along with paint at $900+ per gallon.. It's not at some joe schmoe that is doing it out of there garage, they have done plenty of fiberglass hoods and have a few there that are close enough to just have minimal body work done. I have a few pics of the other hoods they have put on. We know about shims and adjustments, but if we set the hood where it is supposed to be, I have over an inch gap on one side front of hood goes right over the head lights etc. like I said this is not the first hood they have done for me..

the body shop is taking you for a ride, after looking at the pics i can tell you it just looks like it needs adjusted, your going to have lil gaps on the side, aftermarket it is what it is, the hood needas brought back and centered, are you doing this or the body shop?

that hood shouldnt fit that bad period, your going to have to shim etc, but there is no way i would pay that to fit a hood, i know what there charging you to do but you should not need to do that , im sure they said they needed to add fiberglass etc to be perfect, well to be 100 percent perfect yeah your going to have to do that,
