Default Pin striping removal

My 2000 z28 came with thin gray in striping down the entire length of the car. Time and the sun have made it start cracking and fading. Ive waxed over zillions of times. I want to remove it but not sure the best way to do it. And will the paint be discolored vs the regular paint. Any tips will help.

Plastic razor blades FTW!

http://www.autogeek.net/scraperite-p...or-blades.html

Put a piece of masking tape on both sides. This lifts the razor up just enough not to scratch the paint. Leave just enough of the razor showing to peel the pin striping off. You still have to be careful, but this is the safest way. The paint shouldn't be faded. If you really had to, you could use some polish on a microfiber if you don't have a machine and other detailing stuff.

Removed about a one foot section by scraping with my finger nail. a little goof off to remove a bit of residue then cleaned hit it with meguiars#2 then claybar. No lines or fade. So just gotta wait for my plastic razor blades.

A finger nail will work, but it's not fun and your finger will hate you for a few days.

Hadn't thought of that for this application. I used that on emblem adhesive several times. Goof off should be just fine for this.

Eraser wheel would have been better. Heard of people using steam as well.
