Default Improving night time vision

Just wondering if there are any suggestions to improve light output from the headlights on my SS. The lights themselves aren't fogged or scuffed and I have 8k DDM hids but it still seems the lights don't shine on the road like they should. Maybe I am just use to my truck lights.. Haha

Maybe they aren't aligned properly? I know when I changed my lights it took a couple night time drives to really get it where I wanted it

Projectors will help a lot, and so will switching to 5 or 6000k.

Maybe the projectors are the key. Well I'll try aligning them and then save up for some projectors.

Yes, projectors will help. HID in your reflectors is blowing light everywhere, but not necessarily where it matters most. I'm sure other traffic loves you tho

Fiance has 5k in hers with projectors and I had 6k in mine with stock housings. Could see real well with both but after one of my HID bulbs messed up, I went back to factory style bulbs and went with the SilverStars.

Ive got mine aimed a little low so i dont blind oncomming traffic but i like my 8ks plenty bright enough and arent ricer flame blue. Had 10k on my 95z28 and took em off about a week after install couldnt see worth a damn and made it look like i had a cop with blue lights on in front of me but ive had these 8ks in my headlights and fogs for over a month and aint lookin back

Yeah my 8k aren't bad at all. I have 10k in my truck and I can see just as good with only fog lights on. But the light itself is brighter so I'm guessing it puts out more light.

I've done retro's and lighting mods in nearly every vehicle I have ever owned. That's the first thing I do. You need projectors. Not some cheap, drop in aftermarket projector housing, but the good stuff. If you want ease of install do some Morimoto MH1's. Great price, super easy retro. A lot of fun and looks great! Also, get rid of the 8000K, go with 4300K to 5000K. 6000K if you must. You are loosing a TON of lumens output with the higher color temps.

Examples... (Depends on each kit but this is an average from what I've seen):

Halogen (Factory) lumens: 700-1200 lm
4300K lumens: 3300 lm
5000K lumens: 2900 lm
6000K lumens: 2500 lm
8000K lumens: 2300 lm
10000K lumens: 2000 lm
12000K lumens: 1800 lm

Id like to get a set of projectors. The only thing is that I cant find a set I like. I hate the halos and leds and all the BS in them. Id like to find just a clean set of pretty much stock light assemblies with a projector built in. Maybe thats what the ones you suggested are like?? Im gonna check them out now. I might try adding projectors to my current setup of HIDs and see how it improves, then if it doesnt make a difference, Ill try different lights.

BLS is doing a group buy on their retrofits. Costs more than the ebay specials, or doing it yourself, but worth it, IMO.

Well my 8k kit is 2500lm but you wont find many projectors that dont havee halos or something in them. Mine dont have leds but each headlight has a halo in it. Check out my album and you can see if you like the look of those. I personally love the 8k but i wouldntt go lower than a 6k but thats just my taste

Projectors WILL make a huge difference. Real projectors, not the cheap ebay full headlight assembly with halos and stuff. Check out the link above, BLS makes some good stuff.

Id also switch to a lower color temp. Theres a reason cars dont come with blue HIDs from the factory. I had 6000K but it was too blue. I switched to 5000K and they are brighter and super white, not the "hey look at me" blue.

That's actually my car. It's my daily driver and I'm running the 5k lights. MUCH better than the stock housing with Silverstar bulbs I was running before. Worth every penny. Still haven't had much time to finalize the adjustment on them tough.

As already mentioned, a proper projector setup is the best way to go. Not all projectors are created equal so be sure to do your homework before you purchase anything. We are running a GP for retrofitted stock-style housings with a bi-xenon projector. If you have any questions, feel free to ask.

5000K is the most popular color temperature we sell by far. Every kit will be a little different but this color temp usually provides a nice balance of pleasing color and good light output.

You do lose lumens with higher color temps but i just like the look of the 8k best but i would do a 6k too they are aa little brighter and the color is almost the same. When youre dealin with 6 or 8ks its really just color preferennce
