Default Changing Formula to Trans Am

96 Formula

I know that some like the formy look and I do also but I want to transform it.

Ive received great info here on which parts will fit and cross over and thanks to all. My question on the rear and front bumpers is:
Do I also need to change the inner portion absorber(s) or will just the bumper skins be sufficient. I keep passing on some great deals because Im just not sure. Also has anyone done a re-paint themselves. I am an experienced body guy and painter (back in the day) Yea Im older lol.

Used to be simple but with the plastic materials now, should I have a professional do it or not

1 more ??
Will the rear deck lid (hatch) cross over fairly easy if I stick with the same years 93-97. I understand the 98-02 will fit but challenging to get brake and defrost operational.

thanks in advance

Bumper skins will suffice, but you may need the fog lights, etc. Rear hatch are the same from 93-02, but as you stated, 98+ requires a splice to get the third brake light to work properly.

oh...1 more question.

Will I have to lower my exhaust? Isnt the TA bumper a little lower?

No I've never heard of having to lower the exhaust. The bumper appears lower but near the exhaust outlets I believe it's the same.

I'm pretty sure the front bumper impact absorber is different between TAs and Formulas. The Formula one doesn't have slots for the TA fog lights, for instance.
