Default Help out an idiot?

I'm really kicking myself for this one. I did something very stupid. So I came back last night from dinner with some friends, had the roof off, windows down, got home, went to bed. Woke up at 1:30AM to the sound of horrid lighting and a torrential downpour.... Well I got out, threw the roof on and get everything back together. The seats in the front weren't too bad, but if I sit in them, it squeezes water out and makes my butt wet. The headliner is TOTALLY dry, except the visors... They are soaked. Are they ruined? Also, the carpet in the front is SHOCKINGLY dry!! Now in the back, it had just enough water to stand in that little area. Not even 1/4". I left towels in the back seats over night and now it's sitting in the sunshine with the windows down. My question is, what do I do from here? I'm 1700 miles from home, strapped for cash (but I can manage if needed), and the extent of the damage doesn't seem THAT bad. Just my wet butt, my sun visors, and the carpet in the back seat. Could all of that air dry just fine? Thanks for the input everyone. I have had this car for 4 years, through 2 hurricanes, and many Texas summers... And it finally happened haha

Vacuum at a car wash, and keep it open as much as you can. Driving with the heat on full blast may help as well.

Wet/dry vac from a car wash place. Most of that should dry out OK however. Leaving it in the sun is a good idea as that will help.

Awesome, I forgot the car washes had very agressive vacuums. Ha! I have left it outside all day at work (since 7AM this morning) and I just checked it and the seats are still cold/wet. If I sat in them it'd rewet me. But the back seat carpets are shockingly dry!! Still damp, but waaaaay better! Solid advice everyone, thank you!

The visors are cardboard I believe. Probably toast but possibly not. I hope everything works out for you.

the visors may dry out if you take off the ttops and turn them to face the sun. the seats, i guess they just have to dry out and a shopvac should take out any standing water or a steam cleaner

Like they said, just ride a towel for a while, all will end up drying out eventually. Visors may be totaled, just be patient. Keep the car vented whenever possible, windows fully open when possible. You can cook the moisture out with this heat wave.

I'd lift up the carpet to dry underneath. Moisture can stay there for a while once wet = rust.

The issue is if you soaked the carpet to get standing water, its down to the carpet and padding. Vaccuming it out helps. Drying with towels helps better.

If you suck as much as you can out. When I detail cars a good way to ensure a perfect dry is to run the car at idle with blasting heat, and windows closed. Due to the combo of outside temps and heating running, it will Steam a good amount of the carpet out.

rent a couple fans from a rental place ones that are used for drying out houses/floors when wet , i run a restoration company an know all about drying stuff out the carpet isnt the problem its the jute pad under the carpet that holds 90% of the water heat and air movement are key to drying if only you could squeeze a dehumidifier in the car you would be all set my advice would be to run car with a rented fan in it with heat on max and open the door maybe once every hour to burp the car of the moisture that will be in the the car

Or just rip the carpet out as the deadening material is inside and like said holds all of it. The main issue I see is in areas with mold being an issue (see humid) that maybe the only alternative to try to get the fans and de humidfied in there.

Vacuum up what you can, towel dry as much as you can, fans, and you can use moisture absorber like this:

Had a friend that pretty much did the same and worked out just fine.

Just what I was going to say. My buddy left both his windows down on his grand am on a night and into the next day when we had 2-3 inches of rain. He soaked up the standing water with towel, car wash vacuumed the whole interior then bought two of those and put them behind/under each front seat. After a couple days you never would have thought it was completely drenched inside.
