Paint over Jet-Hot coating?

Paint over Jet-Hot coating? I picked up a Y-pipe the other night that has been
Jet-Hotted. Pretty and all, but it's kinda out-of-
place relative to the rest of the undercarriage
(black and semi-crusty stainless is the color theme
)
I'm thinking I'd like to black out the entire exhaust
plumbing. Probably with some high temp POR-15.
But the Jet-Hot is pretty slippery feeling and would
need some prep to give it some "tooth", though I
don't want to strip it entirely. A fair bit of area to be
hand sanding, too....
Anybody ever (successfully, long-term) paint over a
Jet-Hot finish and if so what did you use for surface
prep?

Yes... I have a stainless I-pipe and a silver Y-pipe.
Like plaids and stripes.
Plus I expect I'll be beating it to clearance,
just like I had to on the SLP 2.5", only more so.

Headers, I have coming (bare mild steel);
either going to get a "black chrome" done
or, if it's too steep or the plater won't do it,
some garage chemistry black iron oxide.
It's getting the paint to stick to the Jet-Hot
that I expect to be trouble, being as it seems
made to do the opposite. POR-15 wants a
light rust layer for its chemistry to work right.
Though skin will do as well.
Don't
know if their high-temp is different about that.
I guess maybe I'll just have to try the Liquid
Sandpaper I have sitting in the paint locker
and see if that gives the surface some bite.
