i personally would have used MDF instead of regular plywood considering you are going to possibly put some subs in there, you could always 'glass the bottom to make an airtight enclosure too.

The carpet cost about $25, the plywood was scrap pieces. Most of it is labor, a very cheap mod.

I was thinking of doing the same thing and installing some small subs, except add another section of wood on top of the sub so its covered up and cant see it from the top (and have the front open to vent/port).
For now Ive just been putting my rear floor mats in the rear seat area to cover up the holes and make it more flat.
Ive been trying to find some carpet that matches good with my tan/neutral interior
