Default Sunoco hood stripe in candy red?

Debating on adding something to the hood to break it up.....Car is getting re-shot in black and have been debating using this color to fill in the sides of the Sunoco cowl. Thoughts?

Will that be the only red on the car? Will there be any other focus points to tie it together? I think it will look great, but maybe a little out of place if that's the only place with red on the car.

^ good point. Are the calipers painted red? if not you could paint them the same color as the stripe!!

The calipers are red currently but not sure if this paint would hold up to the heat. I plan on getting the SLP bowtie grill and painting the bowtie the same red. The only thing I can think of doing on the rear would be the center manta stripe. But that might look off.

That could look cool with the center manta.. do some Photoshops first. Something else that you might consider would be a full "manta" style center stripe with the entire center of the Sonoco hood, the B-pillar and the Spoiler having the red. That would look mean! A-la 4th Gen ZL1.. That's kinda what I did and I get complimented on it often even with just the SS hood.

You can't see the B-pillar in this pic, but here's a decent reference for you...

That's pretty nice! I think with this red being so dark, just doing the hood would look subtle, but just enough... I guess I'm looking at it like 'Less is more'.

I say go for it. I've got a black Z and love my red stripes on the side of Sunoco Hood. Mine's more of a victory red, but i think the candy would look good. I get tons of compliments on the hood. I might be partial to it, but I think it looks a lot better when you break up the Sunoco hood with some color.

^agreed. don't think the less is more idea works like that, that's more related to subtle mods. grey, silver, charcoal, yes, they are pretty subtle on black. There's nothing subtle about candy red sunoco hood stripes against a solid black car, so it'd definitely look better with something else to tie it in with the rest of the car. The calipers would be a great idea, but with the size/style of the rims in your sig pic, it doesn't look like your calipers would be very visible, so not sure if that'd do much. the SLP grill bowtie would be a nice touch though.

As for doing the candy red while leaving the calipers a normal red... that will not look good. Can't have two accent colors, in the same color family, yet non-matching. that'll just look like you failed at getting two things to match... like when people try to do color matched intakes and they almost never match the car... just sayin no offense, but you SOM guys seem to be the biggest offenders...

hell, if you're really set on those, why not just do the sunoco side stripes as well. That could actually look really good, and it'd all flow together nicely. But again, you'll need to do the calipers something other than red. perhaps silver, or black with just red letters?

I was probably going to just shoot the calipers black as they are barely visible with the drag setup anyways.

The sunoco side stripes your talking about...are like this?

Satin/matte black would look good and wouldn't detract/distract from anything else really.

That was my initial idea, satin on the side of the cowl and a satin berger panel...but my pops is old school and instilled his candy red ways into my brain.

do the satin! and then just do your calipers in the candy red, and maybe some emblems that also use a similar shade of red

This. Or do a thin pinstripe on the cowl around the matte in candy red...

I was thinking the same thing. Can someone Photo-chop that? It might sound better in theory than it looks in reality...
