I literally thought this exact same thing. people say the same stuff about the whole murdered/blacked-out look, corvette wheels on fbodies, corsa clone tips, certain hoods, stripes, etc etc...
the whole "played out" thing means nada! Do what you like and what you think looks nice, and you'll be happy.
