I used an old towel to keep it from slipping off. Looks good. You forgot to paint the edge of the rotor...the cooling vanes.

Did you have any trouble getting the nut to break loose to get your calipers off?

Not sure who you directed that to....you mean to get them to come loose but leave them hooked to the brake lines? not at all.

If I understand u mean the 2 small bolts that hold the caliper to the bracket. Front is a 12mm and is a 15mm. And no I had no problems at all. I mean my car only has 55k miles and the brakes look to be changed fairly recently but no, had no problems.

So in order to just get them loose and not take them off completely, you only have to remove the bolts from the front? You don't have to remove any bolts from the back of the caliper?

Correct. Only 2 bolts hold the actual caliper but it is still connected by the brake line. But there is also the caliper bracket which is another 2 bolts. It is very simple.

Are the caliper bracket bolts on the front too?

Yes front and back. It's a total of 4 bolts per brake. 2 caliper, 2 bracket. I believe the bracket is a 18mm on the front and 15 on the back. These will require more force then the caliper bolts.

I did mine last weekend also added new rotors and wheels. Yes I know it needs to be lower. That will happen in the next few weeks.

To anybody doing this, if you have the wheel off already, to remove a caliper it's literally 3 bolts. It makes cleaning and painting so much easier and you don't have to tape everything off, no overspray either.

The time you saved not taping off your fender/wheel well, you can bleed the brakes instead (commonly neglected area of maitenance and not difficult at all), and you get a better overall cover as well

After I took them off, I sprayed them down with brake cleaner to get the initial "easy" grime off, and then took a wire wheel/dremel to each one for about half an hour, spraying every so often to get loose dust/grime/small metal shavings off.

It's the difference of about an hour of work (granted you have the proper tools) and how long your work will stay looking good. Preperation is key to have a finished product that's high quality and will stay that way for a long time.

Some spray bomb jobs look good for a year or two and then start to flake apart/look worse than when the project was started making even more work for you or the next person who has to go back and re-do it in a couple years.

Take them off and base coat & urethane clear them out of a rattle can from your local automotive paint supply.

I had them mix ZR1 blue paint and put it in a rattle can. Then I cleared them with a two part urethane also in a rattle can.
