Hey guys and gals. I have a question about the 4th gen gauge cluster background. I want to change the color of the back lighting of my gauge cluster to blue. I changed the lights in my Camaro to red. Unfortunately in the T/As the background itself is tinted red so I need to get a new background layer. The only option I know of for this is a custom background from 6LE. My question is, can I just get a background from a 4th gen Camaro Z28 or SS and swap them in my gauge cluster so my ODO is still current?

yup, i took my stockers off when i did my 6les and stuck them to my doner cluster for a wall piece. Still works tough in the car though with no distortion. Just be careful removing the overlay. Lining it ups pretty easy.

Cool thanks man. Now I just need to see if I can find someone willing to just sell the overlay lol! Maybe get some needles from 6le.

junkyards always a good bet lol, I found mine at a swap meet. I have one laying at home i could send you for a camaro but im pretty sure its a v6 cluster with 120mph speedo

Nah, I need a Z28 or SS so the MPH will match. But thanks for the offer. Yeah I'll look around some junk yards here on in the classifieds.

Yes, you can switch backgrounds. Look on ebay. I just got a spare Z28 cluster in Feb for $19 shipped.

Ok awesome will do. I still don't quite know which color needles im going to go with though. I also will have to change all of the other lights too. Steering wheel, headlight switch, HVAC and im just getting a new radio.
