Trans Am seat question

Trans Am seat question
My interior is in mostly good shape except for the bottom of my drivers seat. The leather is torn and the padding feels pretty gone. I would like to fix both of these issues because I can't find a set of seats that I feel look right inside the car that don't cost a small fortune. So can I buy a new foam bottom and a new bottom cover?

I believe your choices are to either search craiglist/junk yards for a used one in decent shape, or go to a good upholstery shop and have them redo the foam and make a new bottom, but you;ll be well on your way to new seat prices by then I would imagine.

Without taking it apart to be sure I think where mine is torn in the leather, it is also missing a good chunk of foam. It just feels like that so that's why I just wanted to get a new cushion instead.
I saw a thread on here a few weeks ago where the guy had a new lower foam but I can't remember where he got it.

Is it possible to make foam expand AFTER leather covers are installed? The seats from my Trans Am GTA just recently got new leather but they don't look as tight as they COULD be. Any advice?

I wouldn't say its impossible but I was advised to keep the steam away from the covers to avoid the risk of burning the covering material. personally I wouldn't risk hurting those nice covers. I would pull the foam back out to do it if I redid it at all.

Thank you. Yeah, I know the wrinkles will go away in time, but the leather still seems like it could be a little more tighter. The seat's foam is 22 years old, though... guess I really can't expect too much.

The foam sits on thin wires that cut into it. Disassemble the seat bottom. Put something thin/flexible/sturdy between the wires and foam. Reassemble.
In my case, I used some old screen material and aluminum tape that I had lying around to wrap the wires into a flexible metal shelf for the foam to sit on instead of just bare wires.

It's too bad that the camaro seats don't have the same cushions as I have a full set of grey leather camaro seats out of an SS that I could pull apart. That and a pair of Corbeau seats as well. I guess I could sell both to fund a new set of seats..
