Hydrodip the lid and intake. A guy local to me does this and the different patterns and color options are insane. I'm partial to Hades and Reaper.

I believe the guy who quoted me for my intake said he could do it for $150.00. Just google it and you'll see what I'm talking about. After the intake/lid/whatever is dipped, it's then clearcoated to seal it.

I painted my parts with polyurethane base/clear (no spray can). Hydrodipping was too expensive, and I think they came out good. Anything would have been better than the plastic pieces that had faded to different colors/shades of green/gray. I have since done the pieces around the door handles. Doing this actually made everything else look not quite so good. I intend to wrap with leather. It's a work in progress.

Krylon Fusion works pretty good on plastic if you prep it right (windex with ammonia) and it's cheap. I did the kick panels and console in one of my '69s with it.

Not a great pic but you get the idea.

Well if you do end up painting the interior is any form, these pictures (posted already in the thread) show why it is so important to do "body work" on the panels and get them smooth first, the existing "finish" of the panels looks really crappy and cheap when painted so you have to smooth it out first if you go that route, or at the very least use something that is actually meant for it like the SEM stuff that is a matte finish if you don't smooth it out before painting.

Well my friend has plastidipped before. But its impossible to keep clean and doesnt look too great in my opinion. My door panels have been painted from charcoal to ebony (the seller forgot to mention this :/) so the paint has been rubbed off and the charcoal is showing through is already been (poorly) bondo'd and i removed the staples to keep it from cracking again. I was wondering if dupicolor or someone made an interior ebony / matte / satin black or so

I love this. But like you said, the shiney brings out the dullness of the remaining parts

Maybe applying back to black will help a little on the surrounding gray stuff until I do the leather wrap. I didn't treat anything before I took those pics. I didn't realize until after looking at the pics the difference painting the parts black made.

I've always had nothing but outstanding results with the Krylon Fusion line. Prep work is key though. For mine I normally use mineral spirits to clean the surface and then isopropyl alcohol to clean that off right before paint. Few light coats with flash time about 3-4 minutes and then heavier ones after that.

I did this on my F250....2 years later and it still looks perfect. I just scrubbed the hell out of each panel with dawn and a scotch pad, then rinsed them and cleaned them with alcohol. Couldn't be happier
