Default engine detailing

just got the engine all apart to get redy for chrome,powdercoating and painting,the only thing im torn on is waht to do with that rough waterpump,im just woundering if anyone else has doneanything with it ,paint ect and how its holding up.pics would be great to, thanx guys

check town the threads a little bit, Nine Ball posted what he did with his. Its polished and coated I believe...

u can always get the polished electric one. althoguth nineballs looks sweet. try to find that post.

Thats the one, that is so damn sweet, if I could stand not driving mine I would be doing that. Till then I'll be non bling I guess..
Transdamit got any pics of your car so far? I'd like to see some of hte turbo kit etc.

wow that looks nice i think thats what i am going to do im going to paint the intake the same color as the car but now im hearing it will get to hot,i dont see how thats possible when its only plastic

transdamit talkt o noyzee he has his painted with some high temp paint and it looks sweet. i am looking into street and performances polished ls6 intake. they use a special process and actually polish or chrome the plastic one, so it isnt like the ligenfelter/holley one witch is alumninm (sp?) and that holds heat.

the only thing i was thinking is that even when the engine has been running for a long time the intake doesnt feel any hotter than when the car is out in the sun all day

suspossedly the hotter the intake gets or ability to hold heat has some negative affects on power. i woudl tend to guess it couldnt rob more than 1 or 2 hp. thats my opininon tho!

The best bet is to do what i did and find a new or near new 98 LS1 water pump.. that way the pulley comes off (4 bolts).. then chrome the pulley and polish the pump.. for a finishing touch have the t-stat housing chromed.. You can see the results here:



Or get a chromed/polished Meziere elec. pump
