Default Menzerna Vs. Lake Country Comparison Chart

Menzerna GmbH& & Co. is a German manufacturer of high performance polishing compounds. Menzerna's lineup of automotive polishing compounds are equally regarded for their ease-of-use, veristily, and exceptional performance. Autopia-CarCare.com carries the complete line of Menzerna's polishing compounds and protective waxes.

Menzerna Polishing Compounds are numerically labeled according to their intended use. The lowest number (400) represents the most aggressive liquid to the highest number (4500) which represents the finest grade liquid. The remaining range of polishes fit within the scale according to their number.

Menzerna Polishing Range "New Label" Product Chart

Menzerna Polishing Compounds are formulated for use in OEM assembly plants, body shops, and detail shops. When used by detailers and enthusiasts the most common polishing pads of choice are made by Lake Country Manufacturing. The following charts are designed with the most common Lake Country Pad/Menzerna Polishing Compound combinations.

Note: These charts are for reference only. The process of machine polishing removes trace amounts of paint and leaves behind very fine scratches on the paint's surface.

The total amount of paint removed would be referred to as the cut. In this chart, this is known as the Polish Aggressiveness. The higher the number at the top of the bar (pad), the more aggressive the pad and polish combination.

The paint condition key works the same way. The higher the number, the more damaged the paint, in terms of the depth of the defects. This allows these charts to show which polish and pad should be capable of removing the defects (top of the bar) but also the resulting finish of using that combination.

EXAMPLE: The paint is in condition 10. This would be heavily scratched, with deep penetrating defects or even sanded with 2500 grit. These defects have considerable depth. If we are working on medium paint we could use a Lake Country Purple Foamed wool pad in combination with Menzerna PG1000.

This would leave the paint in a condition of roughly 6. Menzerna PF2500 and a Tangerine H20 Pad should remove any marks from the previous step while leaving the finish at roughly a 3. 3 would represent very very fine (sometimes invisible) marks that could benefit from a final polish.

From here we could choose Menzerna SF4500 and a Lake Country Black Finishing pad to bring the car to the highest gloss possible.

Menzerna FG400 Fast Gloss Compound

Menzerna FG400 Fast Gloss Compound is appropriately named for its ability to quickly restore a high gloss shine to paint finishes. Menzerna FG400 uses a highly refined abrasive agglomeration that allows it cut quickly and then quickly polish the surface to a high luster.

The majority of the cutting action takes place quickly, although the polish stays wet and continues to work for a long time after. FG400 works exceptionally well with foam and wool pads via rotary and foam pads via a DA polisher.

Menzerna PG1000 Power Gloss Compound

Menzerna PG1000 Power Gloss Compound (aka PO S34a) uses a clustered aluminum oxidize to deliver a fast cutting action to severely neglected paints. PG1000 will quickly eliminate sanding scratches (to 1500 grit), oxidation, and deep imperfections.

Menznera IP2000 Intensive Polish

Menzerna IP2000 Intensive Polish (PO91E) is one of the original polishes introduced to the retail market in 2002. While no longer the class leader in cutting or finishing ability, IP2000 Intensive Polish still has many desirable attributes. It will work well on all paint types, delivering consistent results without any unwanted reactions. The dusting of the polish acts to keep spent paint from contaminating the pad, making Menzerna IP2000 ideal for oxidized or heavily weathered paint, as well as single stage enamels and lacquers.

Cutting Action: Moderate
Maximum Scratch Grade Removal: P2000 (fresh paint)
Finish: Moderate
Dusting: Moderate
Filling Potential: Moderately low
Ease of Use: High
Use With: Rotary Polisher, DA, Hand

Best Results: Menzerna IP2000 is a class leader when it comes to bang-for- the-buck offering Menzerna's legendary performance in an affordable package. Compared to SI1500, IP2000 is a drier compound which doesn't cut quite as much nor finish quite as well. It is, however, a remarkably consistent polish that delivers results on all varieties of automotive paint. The moderate dusting makes this polish ideal when working on oxidized or weather-worn paint as well. Use with wool or a variety of foam pads on any type of machine polisher.

Menzerna PF2500 Power Finish Polish

Menzerna P2500 Power Finish Polish (PO203S) has two personalities. It has the power to remove moderate paint defects and then finish the paint to a swirl-free, high-gloss shine! Menzerna PF2500 uses highly refined abrasives and a thick lubricant for a long working time that refines the paint surface as you polish it.

Cutting Action: Moderate
Maximum Scratch Grade Removal: P2500 (fresh paint)
Finish: Very good
Dusting: Low
Filling Potential: Moderate
Ease of Use: High
Use With: Rotary Polisher, DA, Hand

Menzerna FF3000 Final Finish Polish

Menzerna FF3000 Final Finish Polish (PO85U) is an evolution of the original "Final Polish II- PO87mc". It is an industry standard finishing polish because of both its finishing ability and low-cost point. It is often paired with PG1000 for a quick two-step process designed to perfect fresh/refinished paints.

Cutting Action: Light
Maximum Scratch Grade Removal: <P3000 (fresh paint)
Finish: Very good
Dusting: Low
Filling Potential: Moderate
Ease of Use: High
Use With: Rotary Polisher, DA, Hand

Use Menzerna FF3000 Final Finish Polish as a low-cost alternative to other body shop finishing polishes. Menzerna FF3000 works well with either machine type (rotary or DA) and works with a variety of finishing/polishing pads. The lubricant in this polish gives this polish exceptional working time. It can be difficult to discern when FF3000 has broken down. Make sure to work it for at least three passes in each direction.

Menzerna SF4000 Super Finish Polish

SF4000 (PO106FA) was Menzerna's finishing polish answer to modern scratch-resistant coats. This polish has enough cut to eliminate light swirl marks and leave behind an absolutely swirl-free shine. The thicker lubricant system in SF4000 can cause light filling and pad hop on extremely soft paints. It should be noted that these polishes use the finest abrasive of any Menzerna polish.

Cutting Action: Light
Maximum Scratch Grade Removal: <P3000 (fresh paint)
Finish: Exceptional
Dusting: Low to moderately low
Filling Potential: Moderate
Ease of Use: High
Use With: Rotary Polisher, DA, Hand

Menzerna SF4500 Super Finish

Menzerna SF4500 Super Finish is an extremely-fine finishing polish that is engineered to create the highest-gloss finish possible on automotive paint. SF4500 uses precisely milled polishing minerals that smooth away any ultra-fine imperfections and leave the surface mirror-smooth. This polish is generally used as a "jeweling polish" after all paint imperfections have been removed in subsequent steps.

Cutting Action: Very light
Maximum Scratch Grade Removal: N/A
Finish: Exceptional
Dusting: Low
Filling Potential: Low
Ease of Use: High
Use With: Rotary Polisher, DA, Hand
