Default Has anyone tried halogen HIR2/HIR1 bulbs in LMC housings?

After entirely too much research I've decided against retrofit HID due to cost and reflector HID due to legalities. I don't care about appearance as much as I do making the road safer for me and keeping it safe for others. I think I'm going to give the 36-0302 and 36-0303 LMC truck housing with Philips HIR2 and HIR1 bulbs a shot in my '00 WS6 (currently has the pitiful stock, worn out lighting). Has anyone tried this combo? Are you happy with the results?

For those that don't know what I'm talking about, you can use the Philips HIR2 and HIR1 bulbs in place of 9006 and 9005 bulbs as long as there is a shield over the bulb in the low beam housing (which the LMC housings do have). The Philips HIR2 and HIR1 bulbs are rated at a much higher output and life than the typical 9006/9005 halogen bulbs.

HIR2 is 1870 lumens over 1400 hours vs 9006 1000 lumens over 1000 hours
HIR1 is 2350 lumens over 500 hours vs 9005 1700 lumens over 320 hours

Not totally sure, but you might run into issues with the bulb bases. I believe the LMC housings come with the 9006xs and 9005xs bulbs, which have the straight base, as opposed to the angled bases of those bulbs. I am looking at the LMC light mod too, but haven't done it yet. Don't know if there with be an issue putting angled base bulbs in or not. The Phillips bulbs sound interesting though, especially being from Home Depot.

I first discovered the HIR2 and HIR1 bulbs on another forum and Daniel Stern Lighting while researching bulbs for another vehicle. You actually can buy them in a few other places but HomeDepot has the best deal on them and is a certified retailer of the Philips higher end automotive lighting (one of the only in the US according to Philips website).

I hadn't thought about the angled vs straight bases. I'll have to dig deeper or just take a chance and find out for myself if no one has any experience.

the only reason angled base is an issue is because of how the basket backs are and that can easily be resolved with a cut-off wheel on a dremel.
