Paint catalytic converters?
Paint catalytic converters? So I have a exhaust leak on the driver side and most likely a blown cat on the passenger side and thanks to JOHNNY59 I was able to score a couple of used cats on the cheap and next week I am going to order a set of BBK shorty headers and have the chrome striped and have them powder coated black.
I would like to paint the cats black but I was wondering if painting the cats with high temp header paint would effect the function or longevity of the cats?
Probably a stupid question because I can not think of a reason it would be an issue as long as I don't get any paint in them, but I don't know everything.

There's no PC on the planet that will withstand the heat of a cat. You'll need the very best ceramic coating you can find. And that's going o be marginal.
Same thing with the headers. High heat PC will discolor and oxidize near the header ports.

as far as some discoloration I don't mind as long as it's not flaking off.....I really don't like chrome and bbk only offers the shortys in chrome and polished ceramic....and from the pics the polished ceramic look almost like chrome
