Default Need help finding a certain shift ****

Hi all, I absolutely hate my A4 stock shift ****. I already have the adapter to put a manuel shift **** on, but i am having trouble finding something i like. Years ago my buddy had one that looked kind of like an upsidedown tear drop. It was aluminium anodized red and had the "SS" logo etched in the top. You could also get them black and with Z28 etched in the top as well. I remember thunder racing having them back in the day. Its been a while since i have been in the Camaro scene. I dont want some big honkin shift ball and definitely not anything tacky. Anybody know the shift ***** i am talking about? Where to find them? And if they are non exsistant anymore than suggestions are more than welcome. Ive been looking around at a couple of the sponsor web sights but cant seem to find anything i really like. I have the ebony leather interior, gonna try to make a shift boot for it as well.

This?

That is the aluminum MBA shift **** with tail. The tail covers the adapter. I'm not sure if it is still made, but WS6 Store used to carry it. However, I just looked through there and couldn't find it. They still carry the version without the tail though.

You could also put on a shift boot instead. Here is mine with the stock shift **** (I have a Trailblazer SS **** now).

Cut it down. I see those cars that put those manual ***** on them and they stick up far. It isn't hard to cut down post with a dremel tool, measure everything 3 times lol and take your time and cut and notch it all out. Save the plastic center rod for last, cut it a hair long and start shaving it for a perfect fit.

Thats an awesome idea. You're right they do stick up a bit to far thats why i wanted to make a boot for it to kind of hide that look. I think i will try cutting it down first.

Again, measure everything and draw a picture! I did and it helped greatly, once you make the first chop you will need all those dimensions to start 'creating' the new shaft shape. The clip notch (the notch 1/2 inch down from top of pole) is where I lowered my stock Trans Am T handle. I only lowered a half inch, but it looks / feels lower. I think I could go another 1/2 inch but don't want it to hit if I ever shift down to 1st. You can try 1/2 inch cut down to that clip notch, then make another clip notch and the grooves for the handle keys to fit down into (keeps handle from spinning) using a dremel tool. I spread out newspaper all around console, took my time for the cuts and it took less than an hour start to finish. Then balled up all the newspaper with the shavings in it - barely had to vacuum up after.

As for my shift **** search, I got LUCKY LUCKY LUCKY!!! I was sitting at home watching a movie and the thought popped in my mind to go down to the basement and scrounge through my old 1995 Camaro parts that i have kept, i had that car about 3 years ago, it got stripped by some thieves while parked at work overnight. Ended up parting out most of it, cutting my losses and went on with life. Well i went down and started looking around and wouldnt you know it I found the exact **** i was looking for, I forgot that i had bought it years ago and never put it on my old car! I installed it today.
