i traded with his local guy for a ss hood. he said it came off a 2000 z28. it was off the car so i couldnt tell the difference. it wont fit my 02 z. im thinking its a 93-97 lt1 hood. theres just no way it came off a 00.

Hard to tell. Headlight area is so close based on most pics I've seen.

it's almost for sure an LT1 hood... whether it's factory or not I can't really say due to my lack of knowledge with regards to the LT1 cars

the ls1 hoods had ridges that matched with the headlights that ran about halfway up the hood IIRC... but its kinda tough to see with the angle of the picture

and the scoop looks way too wide to be off an LS1 car

sounds like he ripped you off :/ i'd be pretty pissed

i did a test fit and it wont close because of the airbox. i know lt1s had no airbox. seems to line up with fenders ok but angled part around the headlights seems off. im stumped at this point.

yeah looks like a 93-97 hood, it doesn't have the grooves in the hood that the 98+ cars had.

he got his years wrong..

*edit, i was late to reply, same answer above. as for the scoop being too wide for a the later years, there are aftermarket 98-02 hoods designed with the LT1 SS scoop like the one above... but that hood above is not one of them

My $0.02 worth...It might be an RK Sport, SS replica hood. The RK hoods didn't mimic the factory scoop shape/dimensions exactly, due to infringement issues with the GM design.

100% an LT1 hood. I'm not sure if it's OEM or not though.

Its definately not OEM. There are no slot for the LT1 SS airbox. Some of the aftermarket SS hoods have an open slot for the SS style airbox, so I am clueless as to what manufacturer made this one.

That was what I was thinking. I was expecting a factory one to resemble the factory LS1 SS hood that routes the air to the airbox.

But once again... I'm not familiar enough with the LT1's.

bad news...i talked to his paint and body guy and he said the hood was super warped and had bad fitment issues on a 94 z28. we were right about it being a 93-97 hood. i went outside and looked down the bottom standing up and i can see the warp now. its fubar how we went from 2000 camaro to a 94 i dont know. these guys are retarded... bad fitment vs year model differences are two different issues.
so now i cant sell it. looks like im stuck with it.
the good news is i traded the guy even for my old factory seats which im replacing with racing seats anyway, so i got the thing virtually for free and didnt lose any money.
i should have looked at it better. i thought it was an aftermarket hood, because ive seen several variations. and with it off the car you cant check fitment.
so at this point im gonna one of two things...
1. turn it into a wall ornament
2. try some crazy **** and cut the scoop out that hood and mold it to my steel hood

100% percent right on how to identify an oem ss hood for lt1s. The hood looks like a lt1 style hood to me due to lack of the bodylines that flow with the ls1 headlights.
