Default Cool ram air hood inserts?

The ones on my car are starting to fade. Instead of just repainting them black, I was wondering if anyone on here has done anything cool with theirs? Like maybe a custom paint job, or painted an emblem on there, or something like that. I can't decide if that would look sweet or stupid...

I can't imagine anything like that looking good. Sounds like something a high schooler would do. Stainless inserts would be ok I guess but still too flashy for me.

I think the best looking inserts are the OEM inserts. I have yet to see anything that looked better or even just "as good".

I'd leave them black. Only thing cool I've seen done with those is a guy who tucked some red neon lights up in there so they glowed at night, kinda Knight Rider esque.

Yeah, that was kinda my thought too, but I just wanted a second opinion. I'm not really into the stainless look for the inserts. Black it is...

Emblem Pros have some onyx black mirror finish stainless steel inserts that look pretty good:

Other than those, I'd probably just refinish my factory ones and leave them black.

See, they don't look bad at all on yours (sick car by the way!), but my car is white, so I'm not sure that shiny steel inserts would look good against solid white. My original thought was to repaint them black with a white bird in the middle. I took a closer look at the inserts yesterday and realized that the honeycomb holes are bigger than I thought, so I don't think the bird would even show up anyways.

Yea, with yours I would probably just refinish them in black and call it a day. The shinier ones can look good with certain colors or on cars with similar accents.

IMO black is the only way to go.

Why draw attention to them? It's like people who put on a chrome plate over their gas door...why do you want the gas door to stand out?

my goal is to paint mine as well as the side vents gunmetal/a dark gray. Something to just make them pop a little but not be to obscene (previous owner painted the ide ones silver and they're starting to peel) I feel the gray will be subtle enough to pop slightly from the black.

Another option is to just remove them:

I'd remove them like above. I think it looks better since the bumper scoops don't have inserts to match (and wouldn't look good if they did).

It's nice to know that the red light looks good. I was just thinking about putting a light in mine so it comes on at night.
