Question headlight options

Greetings tech. looking for headlight options. long story short, car was backed into and damaged the front end up a bit. $3700 of parts and labor and I have a new hood, bumper, headlight assembly and fresh paint. unfortunately the new headlamp shames the old one, immediately showing how old it is. p/o retrofitted hid's and I would like to keep them, especially since I just had to buy a $90 bulb... a single headlamp assembly is around $100 on the cheap end. so im looking to spend minimum $100 to update the old light. this may be a chance to change both lights. ive always enjoyed the blacked out halo look, but im not about to drop BLS money on lights. these piqued my interest, anyone care to chime in or have other suggestions?

http://www.amazon.com/SPPC-Projector-Headlights-Black-Camaro/dp/B00JBI9KUI/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1407914986&vehicle=2000-47-432------------001-0&sr=1-2&ymm=2000%3Achevrolet%3Acamaro http://www.amazon.com/SPPC-Projector-Headlights-Black-Camaro/dp/B00JBI9KUI/ref=sr_1_2?s=automotive&ie=UTF8&qid=1407914986&vehicle=2000-47-432------------001-0&sr=1-2&ymm=2000%3Achevrolet%3Acamaro

anyone know if something like these would be fairly easy to retrofit my hid's in? I wouldn't be opposed to ditching the hid, but I do enjoy that crisp shine they give, along with being able to see everything lol.

Please don't. Buy stock style Depo housings or do the right thing and "drop BLS money."

$90 for an aftermarket HID Kit bulb? Where? What bulb?

Also, please get proper HID projectors for HID instead of putting HID in Halogen Reflectors.

yes I know I should get proper hid projectors... and I just had to grab one from oreilly's. guaranteed I overpaid, but seeing as I don't need the extra attention, I just grabbed what I could at the moment. ds2 bulb? not sure will look at packaging.

ALL of the Halo kits and other headlights that I have bought over the years are absolutely terrible. If you like not being able to see at night, especially in the rain then go for it, other wise if you want to switch it up and go with black housings buy a pair of depo whistler headlamps from 6le or another vendor. Almost all of the ebay and amazon headlights that have halos and projectors use a fog light bulb for the projectors and you cant upgrade them unless you go HID kit but even then the angles are not wide enough. I had that exact pair in your link on a night trip to North Carolina from Florida and of course it rained the whole way up and I had to litterally have my face near the steering wheel to use the other cars head lights so I could see in front of me and try to dodge potholes. IT SUCKED, and that is an understatement. I will never move from OEM lights ever again. Plus the Depo whistlered ones look way more bad ***.

No way D2S fit the stock housings and I doubt o'Reilys has HID kit bulbs.

well without pulling it apart, the shop fit the HID bulb in the replacement light. did they have to modify? couldn't say. don't know exactly how retrofit goes, may have reused a piece or two from old light to work on new light. the guy at the body shop asked if I wanted to replace the other non damaged light but they were gonna charge 292 just for the headlight! he said if I found one cheaper and brought it in he would change other light for me. and I took the bulb straight out of my old one and into oreilly's and they had one.

Now I'm thinking you have blue coated bulbs and not HID. That doesn't explain the $90 price though.

Can you post pics of headlights and bulbs?
