Default Dirty stock exhaust tips

My car still has the factory exhaust on it, and I hate how the tips look. Is there any way to clean them up, or maybe even polish them so they'll look nicer? Or am I just stuck with this until I break down and get a new exhaust?

You could sand them down and then polish them up. I doubt they'll polish up without some type of sanding.

Thanks. I thought so, that sounds a lot like work. Maybe I'll just live with it. Or maybe a winter project.

It's not that bad. Probably easier if you use a powered orbital sander.

I sanded and polished mine. Wasn't that bad just a few hours of time and they look 10 times better. I'll try to get you some pics asap.

On my '99 Prix, I let them keep the patina'd look on most of the surface, and then just used some really fine grit sandpaper on the flat edge or face of them to give them a machined look. They didn't stay clean, but it literally took 30 seconds of light sanding, maximum, on each tip each time I washed the car.

Not gonna be all blingy, but it looked decent on my silvermist prix

Thanks! Pictures would be awesome. My mother in law ordered the car brand new, it still has the stock brake pads and rotors on it as far as I know. I would like to keep it as original to factory as I can but I just think the dull rough exhaust tips look so "frumpy"! How did you get them off, I think since they are welded on I'll have to take a hack saw to them?

I don't want to be all blingy either, but I just think that they look terrible, they look like cheap white metal to me, and they just take away from the rest of the car I think...

I so want to say the obvious. Get off the couch in front of the XBOX and do something. Sold my quad to a guy yesterday and was going thru maintenance with him. Got a text today how do I grease the grease fittings? And then the next text was how do I put it in neutral? I lost a few brain cells on those two questions. But his wife was smoking hot!

Duly noted. The last video game I played was Atari, and I think we got rid of it in 1986. Thanks for your help with my inquiry.

You could always take an old bed sheet and wrap it around the rear of the car and then spray paint the tips flat black. That's what I did to mine when I was running the stock tips and they were aged like that.
