The illuminated bird in the glass has been done before. Looked pretty cool. I think the write-up is long gone though.

Edit- I lied. After some more digging I was able to find it- https://ls1tech.com/forums/appearanc...rors-pics.html

I didn't see a finished product there. From the pics he had, I was picturing something a little different and smaller. The more I think about this, I may just take one off of my car and start tinkering.

looks like size and placement may be an issue. the easiest place for the bird would be top inside corner. do you think bird plus arrow would be too much?

trying to put the bird on the outer edge of the mirror will be more of a pain, but is closer to where it should be.

im sure there will be some that like the bird, hopefully you can come up with several options

i think i would be ecstatic with a small arrow on the outer edge or maybe just a line at the bottom of the mirror, maybe start at the half way point and extend to the outer edge?

Arrows and straight lines are certainly easier to pull off. I started making the bird mirror last night. Looks like it's gonna be a trial and error process lol.

I've seen a few and thought about it. Maybe down the road. I don't have my 99 anymore so I can't do a test fit.

I bought some (hopefully) sequential LED turn signal arrows from China that should be arriving any day now. If they work out, I'll be happy to send the link.

Sequential could make the arrows cool. Been rethinking the process on my bird mirror. Pretty sure I'm making it harder than it needs to be. So, (assuming I can get the glass off without breaking it) I think I have a better idea on the how to.

Remember the reflective material is actually on the front of the glass not the backing

I want to put mirror signals on my car at some point but I've been unsure of how to make it look good and not just look like I stuck an LED strip behind the mirror or on the edge.

I wish now that I had saved a mirror off my old wrecked car just to tinker with.

I'm thinking frost the back side so you don't see the individual lights, just the overall image.

Update: I can't find a bird design that I like and fits right on the mirror. Thinking maybe pontiac emblem?

So here's a basic idea, don't have any colored lights right now so I used white. thinking frost the back side more so the lights aren't seen.
