Do 93-96 tail lights fit on 97-02 Camaros?
Hi all,
I am new here and this is my first post. I have had a 1979 RS Camaro show car for years, but I just bought a 2002 SS Camaro to use as a daily driver.
I don't like the look of the red/amber/white 97-02 Camaro tail lights nearly as much as the red/white ones that came on the older 93-96 cars. I would like to replace mine with these older ones, and although I know they look to be the same shape and all that, one of my buddies told me that he thought the mounting holes were different. I did a search on here and found some info, but some of it conflicted as well. Some said that it was no problem, others said you need to use a dremel to enlarge some of the holes where the bulbs go in or something.
I am wondering if anyone knows FOR SURE if the mounting holes are all the same and all that. Has anyone performed this retro-swap?
Thanks a bunch in advance for any help... it is greatly appreciated.

I did this about 3 months ago. They fit with no problems. The only thing I had to do was notch/cut out a tiny piece of the plastic housing to get one of the sockets to fit on the 93-96 tail lights. All the sockets fit nice and snug, and I've had no problems with moisture.

I used a hacksaw blade There is a wire mod you can do also(to have the whole tail light illuminate at night), but I didn't feel like ******* with it. I like the way they look now.

Works fine.
The only thing is that our car's bulbs light differently than these.
We have turn signals and brake lights separate from each other.
We also don't have 3 parking lights.
I just ran a wire from my outside corner light to my turn light, which is already a dual filament bulb, to give it parking lights.
I put my outside parking (single filament) bulb to the inside of the old housings. This made the inside section a parking lamp only. Then my brake/parking bulb went into the center section. This is the largest part of the lamp housing and lights as a brake light.
Then I put my turn signal, with the parking filament modded to work, on the outside corner section.
So the whole housing lights with parking lights and the turn signals are in the outer most corner.
I like it anyway...
