What's the best way to get a good tape line? My first attempt sucked, had to clean it all off.

you have to remove the tape while the dip is still wet.

start with the narrow vinyl tape (1/4" wide) to get the edge good before going to the wide tape (1-2" wide), you'll be able to get the curves shaped better with the narrow tape, then like mentioned above, remove the tape IMMEDIATELY after spraying the final coat and when doing your final coat, do the edges along the tape line last, you need to get the tape off before it dries.

also don't spray in direct sunlight, it will make the dip dry to fast.

Just paint it. I plastidipped mine, month later peeled it off and spray painted it.

I did the dip and it looks fine. I did a post on it. If if it begins to peel off or fade i'll just have to spray paint it.

What i found worked best is when you are doing the first few coats, dont worry about spraying the edges where the tape is. Only on the last coat worry about getting the edges covered and then take the tape off immediately. This way the plasti doesn't have enough time to dry to the tape and give you a bad lines. Hope this helps

Yep peeling it off wet is the key. I think pastidip looks alright but it can be tricky to get a smooth finish. Haven't quite mastered it myself but I have gone through 2 cans of the stuff. One thing I noticed is that it must be applied fairly heavy or you play hell getting it off. It doesn't really peel like they say if you get it thin in spots. Those areas you have to basically scrub off... real pita.

I had no issues with the tape line, like others have mentioned, just pull it when it is still wet.

Had a body shop paint it semi gloss. I also bought a yellow reflective ws6 overlay from Franker. I dont usually like red and yellow together but red Firehawks came with yellow decals.

My vote would be to just paint it. I did mine nearly 5 years ago, and it still looks brand new. I did mine in a flat black.

^this. If you let it dry the tape likes to take our line with it... Learned that the hard way. I used flat black bumper paint. Came out really good.

1. Need to wet sand bumper with 600 then 800 grit sand paper.

2. Clean with Mineral Spirits.

3. Tape off the areas you don't want painted.

4. Paint several quick coats before it dries. (remove tape before it dries)
