Front License Plate
The only thing I can get n trouble for is not having the county sticker visible, but the front plate is visible. Never got stopped for it.

I got pulled over once by a Statey. I saw him hiding under an overpass, and he pulled out and chased me down as I was on the off ramp.
He was a real dick about it, but its only a $40 ticket here.
Now I have it on the air dam. I imagine if I get pulled over again for no plate and I correct him by saying its on the air damn I'm in for another ticket.

I agree, I'm assuming your a cop then? Last summer I got hassled my one and only time about a front plate. I was polite and he said " I see you take pride in your car but with you not running a front plate your telling me you don't care about the law" I said, my apologies it just looks much nicer with it covered. I then asked if he was going to write a ticket, he said yes. So I asked if I take the cover off right now can I avoid a ticket? He looked a little puzzled and so I said I have a plate under the cover and it will take two seconds to get the cover off. He said go for it and you will be on your way.
I was looking at the Ohio plate laws as I hate the front plate too (mine is mounted to my grille without the bracket so it is a little bit cleaner looking at least).
There is nothing that says WHERE on the front the plate has to be, so the windshield is perfectly legit according to the law as it is written.
I suppose a police officer could argue that on the air dam underneath isn't "plainly visible" but that is where I plan on putting mine at whenever I get a different grille (or filled in grilleless) and have no spot for the plate on the bumper anymore.
4503.21 [Effective Until 1/1/2017] Display of license plates and validation stickers or temporary license placard or windshield sticker.
(A) No person who is the owner or operator of a motor vehicle shall fail to display in plain view on the front and rear of the motor vehicle the distinctive number and registration mark, including any county identification sticker and any validation sticker issued under sections 4503.19 and 4503.191 of the Revised Code, furnished by the director of public safety, except that a manufacturer of motor vehicles or dealer therein, the holder of an in transit permit, and the owner or operator of a motorcycle, motorized bicycle, manufactured home, mobile home, trailer, or semitrailer shall display on the rear only. A motor vehicle that is issued two license plates shall display the validation sticker only on the rear license plate, except that a commercial tractor that does not receive an apportioned license plate under the international registration plan shall display the validation sticker on the front of the commercial tractor. An apportioned vehicle receiving an apportioned license plate under the international registration plan shall display the license plate only on the front of a commercial tractor and on the rear of all other vehicles. All license plates shall be securely fastened so as not to swing, and shall not be covered by any material that obstructs their visibility.

My advice is to just leave it off. Then, grab your plate, scrape it up, run it over, beat it with a hammer, bend it to all hell, and throw it in your trunk. If you get stopped, just show the cop it got "damaged in a parking lot hit and run", and you're waiting for your plates to expire before getting a new one. No tickets in 7 years and I live in a notoriously bad area for cops.
If the plate is in your windshield, it's not on the front of the car (ticketable). If it's on your air dam, it's not in plain view (ticketable). Hell, my buddy got a ticket for no front plate, and he had his mounted behind his billet grille. Since from a certain angle it wasn't clearly visible, the ticket stood.

lower air dam falls under "improper display" still,

so front windshield is still no.
mount it save the hassle.

A little off topic, but not really. Why do I see trucks all the time with a rear plate that reads "18,000"? Is that legal, and what does that mean? I'm talking about 3/4 and 1 ton trucks.
