Default painting/dyeing cloth door panel inserts/tops??

Has anyone on here ever successfully painted, or dyed their CLOTH (that marbled/ebony colored stuff) upper interior door panels?

If so, WHAT did you use, and how did you do it??

Mine have turned that putrid sun faded purple color on top, and I cannot justify dropping $500.00+ on the Hawks factory GM leather ones right now (maybe in the future?).

Thanks in advance.

Only thing you can really do is get a can of Sem paint from local supply. Mask area and spray. Nothing outside of that and that is only a cosmetic fix till you spring for new or find good, used ones. Just can't dye fabric and be durable too.

OK, THANKS.

I guess it's time to start saving up those pennies for the Hawks stuff.

There are still a few good, used door panel sets still out there for a lot less than the ones Hawk's has. 500 bucks is a fair amount of coin but, they're not being produced anymore, obviously.

Maybe, but if one wanted the cloth, wouldn't all of the used ones be faded/turned color as well, unless they were in an 100% tinted window car in Alaska??!
(Of course, the leather ones fade very little.)

If you're staying with cloth inserts, yes, you are right about being in the same condition for the most part.

my wife had a minivan lease and spilled some pepsi on the grey carpet and , of course, never cleaned it. left a huge brown stain. when it was time to turn it in they told us we might have to pay for new carpet $$$$. Got a can of grey vinyl/fabric dye. covered it really well and matched the other carpet.
give it a shot before spending $500 on new panels. what do you have to lose?
