installed a Sparco Steering Wheel, finally
All in all it was a fairly straight forward install. Following some of the guides on here and some common sense and it goes on.
Did take me a bit to figure out how to wire the horn. It seems that on this model the entire wheel has to be grounded on the hub adaptor. What I did to make this happen was just sand a little of the paint off the backside of the wheel to ensure a good ground.
Other than that, it's as straight forward as wiring the two wires from the column to the two from this wheel.
Speaking of the wheel, this model is a Mugello, 330mm. At first it felt really small, but after a couple of weeks I would not change a thing.
Driving with a smaller, solid wheel makes driving the car 100 times better. It feels like a sports car now. Turning is tighter and the steering input is dramtically improved.
While I was on that project I also put in a full Kee Audio level 3 package and a new double din with an Alpine ILX-007 head unit.
Now now here are some pics:

Here are a few of the head unit/double din
This is the USB/AUX cable mount I put in. Keeps things looking factory.
Also put on some new z/28 badges, but I'll write another post with those.

* the hub I used is a Sparco one. I read about others using momo adaptors and having to shave the column. I just kept it all in the family and went with sparco. The adaptor was just under $100, picked up the wheel on eBay for $240 shipped. Just about the best price I could find.
* the seats are out of an S2000. I'll try to find some other pics and post them up later tonight. They are flat out awesome and a huge improvement over stock. I wrote a post a while back on how to install them. May be some more pics towards the end of that as well.
* the double din bezel is a funny story. I actually got one off ebay ($40 shipped) that is the one that is on it now. Also, since I ordered the head unit from the major retailer that always sends out the catalog (not sure if they are a sponsor) they include a metra double din as part of the sales price.
In all honesty the one from ebay is the one I used. It was unbranded but came with a textured finish that the metra did not. I reused the factory clips that hold it in as they are thread on vs this ones press on clips that were somewhat cheap. If anyone is interested I can pm you the sellers name for the double din.
* the usb/aux port was a $10 amazon purchase that I think is designed for boats. But I drilled about a 1 1/8 hole and in it went. The position in the console is about the only place it fits without hitting the body control module behind the shifter.
The steering wheel is about one of the best mods I've made. Can't explain how much more fun the car is to drive now.
Next plans are to paint the SPARCO lettering black and I'd like to try to get the buttons black as well, but might not push my luck on that.
The Best V8 Stories One Small Block at Time
I had my Sparco mod 383 suede wheel, and Momo 2401 hub actually sitting and waiting for this car to be delivered way back in 1/2000 (I ordered it TOTALLY stripped, and a hardtop).
I HATED the stock wheel in these cars soooo much that I did not want to drive it for even ONE day with that P.O.S. plastic wheel, as it ruined the whole car for me.
The Pro 5.0 shifter was also waiting on the car and in it the same day.
Needless to say, the car was a PLEASURE to drive after those mods, with just the stock seats as the sore point after that.
I also could not even imagine having to drive a 4th gen with the stock wheel now.

I just connected the red wires up to the horn buttons, then made sure the wheel was grounded.
