Default Will this make me a ricer..???

Just bought a 2002 NBM Z28...It currently has black 2002 SS wheels (see pic below) and I am trying to make it pop and stand out a little.

I am thinking about doing a white rim tape such as this http://www.cyclegear.com/SPEEDMETAL-...ck-to-top-link
since the car seems very plain to me right now.

Thoughts and Opinions ?? I am going to be doing Chrome ZR1 Wheels down the road but would rather spend money on horsey power at the moment

REFLECTIVE TAPE on wheels? that would go far beyond ricer levels, that puts in "hubcap spinners" land. If you want to change up the wheels do some plasti-dip or something to do a full color change on the wheels with like a metalizer coat or something, remember plasti-dip has more options then just black.

Just take the plastidip off...

If it won't peal or pressure wash off, gasoline usually strips it and won't damage the paint on the wheels. If you find the previous owner plastidipped them for a reason (such as really bad factory paint) get a couple cans of wheel paint and touch them up.

This. Take the dip off and see what you've got to work with underneath. They may still have a good original finish, whether that be paint or chrome. Or if not you can sand and paint them, or strip and polish them.

I was going to say take the dip off, but I like the idea of just leaving it on there until you get the ZR1s, because it may just drive you to get the ZR1s a little faster.

Then when the wheels show up, take the dip off and see what you've got. Either you like it so much you sell your ZR1s or you don't like it and you appreciate your ZR1s that much more.

If you don't like the all black wheels (I don't like this either for an NBM car, or for ANY color car when done with Plasti-garbage-dip), then I would agree with the suggestions above to remove the coating and see what's underneath. If it's bad, you can probably find a decent set of used 17x9/9.5" F-body wheels for not too much money; something silver, chrome or polished would be the only options I'd consider for an NBM car.

This is definitely not reflective tape. In fact it so UN-reflective that one happy customer wrote in his review...

Super reflective I got this cuz I commute early in the morning and want to be seen.

Another positive review stated....

Very reflective too!

Honestly, dont waste your time or money. Either strip the wheels or leave em alone until you can buy used ones. And keep your eye out in the classifieds here. Used wheels are always for sale.

I would bet the cool kids with the coffee can tips and under glow lights will take to you pretty quick, so make sure to carry the left overs and show them how to install it.

Have a pic closer to the wheels? Doesn't look bad actually but I'd want to see it up close to be sure. I miss my old 10 spoke SS wheels. I had the spokes painted black with a polished lip and red bowtie's on the center caps. Had them on my polo green '95 Z28 then switched them over to my red '87 IROC that was LSX swapped..

However.. ZR1's are by far my fav wheel..
