construction of new style daytime running lights??
I handmade my previous headlight assemblies, since new versions were over $800 ea at the time, plus harness, ballast etc. I'm sure the 2016 Camaro light will cost even more, so trying to figure out how to make my own modern drl parts. I know it's probably a COB led design. I did see 7" continuous look drls I could use for the lower fascia & some slightly flexible units, but not quite what I think I may need. New subject to me.
Any advice would be appreciated.
2016 Camaro headlight.
Been doing some general google searches. Besides the odd places, JDM toystore lists what they call a switchback strip, 24"long , .32 thick, $69.99 pr. Switchback means they can be wired to turn signals to flash amber.
Superbrite leds.com lists evenglow rope lights in 12 & 24" lengths for 12.95 & 19.95 each.
Either could simulate the look from a distance, but the factory light has some depth to it.
Something else interesting I did see was an ad for bmw I-8 laserlites. I could easily make the look of the factory part from clear lexan or acrylic, But it would take more than a few white leds at each end to achieve enough briteness. Ever see 12 volt white laser lights??
May need to do some experimenting.
