Default 02 steering wheel in a 99

My 99 Camaro steering wheel is falling apart. I really want to keep something with an airbag if its possible, so I was looking at just upgrading to the 2002 style steering wheel. I don't need the radio buttons to work, how hard is this swap to do? Is it even possible? I tried searching, but I am either a dumb ***, blind, or maybe a little bit of both.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks Guys!

Simple swap, just need a couple wrenches and a steering wheel puller.

I think the harness for the air bag might be different. I have a wheel and bag from an 02 I tried putting in my 95. Same wheel and bag on the outside but different connectors. Just something to think about.

98 has a different air bag connector than the 99-02s.

1998 and 1999 have the different style connectors that won't work with a 00+ air bag.

You can use an airbag out of a 1998 Montecarlo, it has the same connector plug. I have a 2000+ base model camaro wheel and air bag in my 98 and disabled the air bag light with HP tuners
