replacement headlights
I broke a headlight and need to replace it and rather than spending money on an old worn out headlight or almost $500 for the pair from GM I'm thinking about the HID Projector headlights I see. There seem to be a few varieties out there, I'm looking for chrome. Do any of these fit better than the others? Something I should stay from? I'm not crazy about the led's but they all seem to have them. I'm guessing I can just not wire them up. Does anyone have any good experiences with them? The H1 low beam bulb seems the to be the one of choice.
Check out Blackbird Lighting Solutions (BLS) they are a sponsor that provides aftermarket housings modified with HID projectors in them.
Or you can make them yourself.
Check out more in the Lighting FAQ for info on the BLS headlights, making your own setup, and those other ebay lights.

Yes I read those posts most of them are very old. I will check out BLS. But was wondering if anyone has had satisfactory results with the ebay lights? I will eventually find some decent stockers to restore but I need something inexpensive for right now and was wondering which was the best of the cheapo headlights flooding the marketplace. Looking for the brightness of the HID housing. I have installed aftermarket High Beams HID in my Corvette so I am a little familiar.
Some people buy the "Sonar" headlight housings on ebay that use a H1 Halogen bulb and install a H1 HID Kit and are satisfied, but those pale in comparison to an OEM HID setup or the aftermarket Morimoto HID Projectors that BLS uses.

If you want more light from them, replace the 9005 & 9006 bulbs with 9011 & 9012 bulbs; much brighter and designed to use the same optics. They might fit without modification, but if not, then a minor trim to a tab on the bulb will let them fit (you can find pics of what to trim on here and google). I didn't have to trim anything to install them on my mother's CR-V.

OK all looks good and when I turn on the High Beams I am no longer squirrel hunting.
