I assume they are raw polished aluminum with no clearcoat? If so, I'd start with a product called Flitz. You spray it on the wheels, cover them completely, and let the stuff do its work. You'll wash off the Flitz and then start polishing. The good thing about raw aluminum is you can sand the **** out of it, being as aggressive as you want and working toward a far less aggressive grit, and the polish.

Yep its raw polished alum, i was going to try hitting them with some light sand paper but i was a little worried about scratching them up too much. Is flitz easily obtainable locally or am i looking at an online purchase?

I purchased mine online, but depending on where you live, you might be able to get it off the shelf. The good thing about raw aluminum is you really can't screw it up. Start off less aggressive and see if it makes a difference. You can always step up from there. When I purchased a used set of CCW 505a's, they were in pretty bad shape. I started off hitting them with the Flitz to see how well it would work. That stuff did a really good job of getting off what appeared to be rust and other oxidation. I still wasn't happy, so I started wet-sanding. I think I started out with 1,000 grit and worked down from there. I used Adams metal polish, 1 and 2, after I was done sanding. They turned out really well. There are several good write-ups on here that you can reference. I'll see if I can find them.

Edit: Here is a good write-up on a Corvette Forum:

Good luck. Just follow the write-up and don't be scared. Working with raw aluminum is pretty easy. Once you get them where you want them to be, you're going to be doing everything you can to keep them clean. Ask me how I know. Only downfall to polished aluminum is they get dirty easy and are harder to care for than wheels that have a clear-coat on them.
