Default Swirl mark removal by hand

The GT500 has some swirl in the clear coat, nothing that just stand out, but in the right light you can see it. Have any of you guys ever removed swirls without a buffer, as in by hand? If so, what product do you recommend and are there any steps I should take, other than washing, before using the abrasive?

After a wash give the paint a good claying. It will remove the above surface contaminants. Mother and Meguiar's sell a clay bar kit over the counter.

As far as poising by hand. It takes a lot of work. It will look better but nowhere near the results from a polisher. So be sure to get that advil ready for those arms and shoulders the next day.

Pick up the Meguiar's ultimate trio (compound, polish and wax) at your local auto parts store. Also get some good yellow foam applicators.
