Best product to clean interior plastic
Best product to clean interior plastic I bought an '89 Formula for a new project to work on. The interior has been pulled out and the plastics are dingy and streaked up. What is the best cleaner out there to get them looking new again? I've used everything you can get from the auto parts stores in the past, I'm wondering what else may be out there that's a little more potient.
You got any pictures so we can see how bad it is?
If its just light cleaning and maintenance, I use adams polishes interior cleaner and detailer. The cleaner with a horse hair brush works great for me. Then finish up with a small rag to clean up all the soap and residue.

As mentioned above, it all depends on how dirty they are.
For really dirty/stained surfaces, I like to use Simple Green. The only downside to SG, that I have found, is that the smell of it sticks around for a while no matter how much water or other cleaners you use to flush the pieces. This can be minimized some by diluting it, but it works best at full strength. Of course, you should test it first on more sensitive materials.
For light cleaning, I like Meguiar's Quik Interior Detailer.
Once clean, I always like to follow up with 303 Aerospace protectant. In addition to protection, it restores a healthy glow to the surfaces without the ghetto shine of thick dressings.

I vote Meguiars D101. I like concentrated products that I can dilute to suit my purpose. I bought a gallon of D101 two years ago and I still have half of it left.
It cleans just about everything. I use it on interior, under hood, tires, and so on. My wife even started using it in the house. Just make sure you follow it up with some kind of protectant. You can find at most online retailers that sell detailing supplies.

Just a heads up on using simple green. I would suggest diluting it down a little for interior cleaning. I've had issues with strong simple green mixtures removing painted details from interior trim. Things like the window emblems on the power window switches, or any markings on the turn signal stalk. Other than that, simple green has always worked great for me, been able to save quite a few grimy parts.
I'm.a fan of griots interior cleaner. Clear liquid and it always leaves the finish matte and clean. I use it to clean up after my one year old in our Tahoe. Safe for leather vinyl and plastics. Then go back with your dressing of choice. I'm with rpm there is nothing worse than that wet glossy look armoral like products leave. Which also leaves a tacky feeling to me
