Is there any kind of product out there that will keep mud from soaking into tires? Been having heavy rain the past week, and dirt driveway just turns into a mud bog. My old Nittos got stained really bad over the past year. I have my car over at discount getting new ones put on and want to keep them clean coming and going as much as possible. In case you're wondering how bad my driveway actually is:
I would suggest paving the driveway. There is nothing you can do to keep anything clean if you're driving over those sort of conditions. If paving the driveway is out of the question, then I'd recommend at least laying down some gravel, and/or buying an $800 beater to drive when it's raining and your driveway turns to a mud pool.
Having said that, I'm not really sure how dirt could permanently "stain" a tire, unless it's very high in iron (rust) content perhaps. Have you tried concentrated cleaners such as Simple Green? Bleche-Wite is another good tire cleaner, though its current formula isn't nearly as powerful as the old formula. To get it back to full, former strength you can simply add some powder TSP (but then you have to be really careful if you ever have polished aluminum wheels or the like).
We moved into a new subdivision in October that was all mud everywhere, and our tires all got "mud stained" to the point where just the regular car wash or a regular hose and soap wouldn't fully remove it. Even after washing in the regular car wash, the tires had a faint brown staining on them.
The cure for our tires was just water pressure - either a pressure washer or the spray and wash. I went to the spray and wash and used the high pressure nozzle right up close and it cleaned away the stains. Unlike paint where you're worried about chipping or the finish, the rubber is a lot more resilient and solid. Take the pressure washer to them, hit them with some tire shine, and they should be good as new.
