Default restore steering wheel leather?

My steering wheel leather has become shiny, like I put some kind of protectant on it, which I didn't (and I'm the only owner since new). It's only been cleaned with leather cleaner maybe 10 times over its 18 year lifetime. Is there any way to restore it to its original non-shiny look? What's weird is that I have a 2001 Pontiac GP with way more mileage, same type of leather steering wheel covering, that has not gotten shiny at all.

Default

Try cleaning it again. It could just be dirty from the oils on your hands.
