Default Black WS6 Hood Getting Cloudy

I have a black 2002 WS6 and the paint on the ram air hood looks like it is getting pretty cloudy. By cloudy I mean the rest of the car's paint has a nice, sharp reflection, but the hood's reflection is cloudy. Is this something rubbing compounds and a DA can buff out?

Hey, I had the same problem you had, only I had much worse luck since my fenders were scuffed like crazy. My car is a 2001 ws6 with the black paint so I'm almost positive GM used the same paint and clear coat. Anyways, I had UNBELIEVABLE luck with chemical guys v36 compound. I used a 3 inch dual action orbital polisher from ZOTA on the 5th setting (speed). I was applying moderate pressure and slowly moving doing probably a 2 to 3 foot section at a time, I was ALWAYS moving and not staying still. I would slightly wet the pad with conditioning spray and then put 3 to 4 "dabs" of nickel sized spots the compound on the pad. After that I would kind of just "tap" the section I was going to buff with the pad to try to apply it throughout the section I was going to work on. I believe I used Griot's black finishing pad. It was almost a year ago, so I'm not positive I remember 100% how I did it, but I believe this was how. After I did the car with the v36 compound, I used Chemical Guys v38 polish compound, but I honestly noticed very little if any difference. Here is my post from when I did it. Look at the pictures, the car came out incredible (in my opinion). My car was so scuffed before. My car is black, but the yellow light bulb in the garage added a golden tint on the reflection.

Actually, I believe I may have used Griot's orange pad. I'm not completely sure.

Without seeing photos of the actual issue it could be either oxidation or signs of clear coat failure. If it is oxidation take a polish like Meguiar's M205 possibly even needing a compound like Meguiar's Ultimate Compound to remove it. A cleaner wax like Meguiar's 3 in 1 may also work.
