Default Custom Leather Interior- What do you think?

<UPDATE: SEE POST #20 FOR THE PREVAILING PLAN> Guys: I'm about to pull the trigger on this design (photoshopped). All leather. My design. My new emblem. Yes, white leather in lower door panel (the carpet area). Black thread on black. Red thread on white. Also black seats will not be perforated. Also, do you think I'm hurting my resale value going a little wild like this? Original interior was fabric. Honest opinions please. Thanks.

SEE POST #20 FOR PREVAILING IDEA. VOTE ON THAT ONE. THANKS!

I don't think it's that wild, I like the design. I will see the red stich seems a bit out of place?? Hard to tell from.the chop

On resale.......... As far as make or break on a fair priced used f body I think you will be fine. But if it's a concern pick up a second seat of seats to have recovered and store the originals.

I don't think 4th gens will ever see collector values outside of ultra rare cars like sunoco wide bodies or blackbirds. So I think you are safe to make the interior your own

Its alright, not my cup of tea but it could also be the photoshop. Only thing I would like to point out is the logo on the headrest. It either looks too busy or the off center part of the SS is making it look not great to me..

I think it looks good, not a fan of the emblem on the rear seat but other than that I think it improves the interior.... if your worried about resale value don't do it, not that I think it will hurt all that much it just seems to me that a project this big should only be done on a car you plan to keep, just my 2 cents but I think it looks good.

I think it fits nice with the exterior of the car. Why not replace the non plastic parts of the door panels with white leather? I personally like the perforated leather seats as they "breathe" better, I have them on my family hauler too.

For resale, on a car this old I don't think they will make any negative impact. So what if they aren't original, its a upgrade from cloth and the more important part is if the seat foam is good and the metal frame is still tight and all controls work. If someone is trying to knock down the price because of the seats, it's their loss. The overall design of the car will look great and flow well with this design in my opinion. I agree with the red stitching, seems out of place unless you will be putting some red accents in other places (just the SS logo and brake calipers don't seem to sell the red in my mind). Still, its your car. If you are planning of getting rid of it in 2+ years you'll have to balance the cost of doing this well to enjoyment of it. If your keeping the car or intend to keep it for a long time do what makes you happy and enhances your time with it!

@mac62989: I wanted something on the headrest. LethalInteriors is doing the work. I see lots of guys doing just a big SS the same size as the 02 anniversary, but it seems too big to me. The logo won't be as big as it looks in the photoshop. Here's the actual sample piece on white leather that the embroiderer sent back. It's 5 inches wide from C to o.

You mean the upper part of the door panel (large black vinyl area?). I tried that and waffled back 'n' forth on that. it seemed to make the overall feel "dry" to me. Here's a photoshop with white on upper door panel and removed red stitching.

I think it looks good but I'd do black stitching. I think the door panels would look better in black. Get Lethal Interiors to give you a quote. Princess does great work but is having issues getting supplies due to covid.

I see what you mean after looking at it, the door panels are a bit too wide and throw it all "off" a bit. Not to mention keeping it white would be a PITA.

Here's another mockup. I don't know about the white shift boot & red T. Just playing with it. Also, not shown in this pic. I did the white guage faces.

I don't usually like any sort of significant customization of the interior, but I have to say that the image in post #9 looks very nice. That's what I would do of the above options (meaning all black door panels, all black stitching). I like the rear seat logo as-is (nice touch IMO) and I actually like the front ones as well, but only if you plan on doing a matching vintage font elsewhere on the car. For example, the factory (or even SLP upgraded) dash plaque uses a very different font for "Camaro", as does the rear tail panel. So I probably wouldn't be happy with the mismatched font, especially if the stock dash plaque will be retained as there would be two different Camaro fonts within the interior. But that's just me. Either way the logo looks nice, it's just the mismatched element that would trouble me.

Also, I would definitely do the perforated leather (as apparently shown in post #9), both for ventilation as well as appearance (non-perforated just looks like vinyl to me). And I wouldn't do the shifter boot in white (leave it black IMO).

Overall, I don't see the arrangement in post #9 as being "too wild" at all. The more custom you make any car the more it could potentially alienate future buyers, but this isn't so over the top as to be instantly polarizing with predominantly negative reactions IMO. Just don't expect to ever recover the cost of doing this - like most modifications, especially those related to appearance, you'll eat much of the investment if/when you sell the car.

This has been eating at me. I agree. I could come up with a logo that had the block font with the SS. In my mind, a tiny script logo with SS would look terrible on that dash plaque even if I could make it happen. I'm going to rethink this.

Points taken and I think I would prefer it. She had mentioned that the perforated isn't as rugged/reliable as the non-perf. I'll ask her again.

Default Alternate Logo, Black Thread

Whipped up another logo... very rough draft. The SS may look too big on the seats in my mockup? This one's true to the car's badging.

That new logo is an improvement.

Could also use the red/white/blue logo

New logo is an improvement but it still doesn't mesh well to me at all. Super busy

I agree with the folks above, the new logo font is much better for the application. But, from a distance (meaning the full interior image), it sort of looks like the CAMARO portion is just a red line through the SS; in other words a strike-through, like this: SS

Have you considered playing with putting the CAMARO below or above the SS? If separating them seems even more busy, then perhaps changing the color of CAMARO to black would help, and if you still want a splash of color you could go back to outlining the SS in red (vs. silver) like in picture #9.

But you are definitely on the right track with the font change IMO.

I thought of that just this morning (Camaro above or below). Also, I'm going to play with a 35th anniversary-ish logo. Perhaps just "Camaro" above, "SS" in the middle, "by Chevrolet". or "Chevrolet" on top, "SS" middle, "Camaro" bottom.
I'd do a smaller SS though. From a distance, these look messy too IMO:

Here it is with Camaro below SS. I think I'm getting close.

I also just realized that this matches very nicely with my instrument cluster decals. The tiny SS does have a red outline.
